I believe there are a lot of people who are willing to take risks. I don't know if they believe it can't happen to them or what.
Don't look now but Michigan folks are not too happy with Governor Gretchen. Not sure Biden should jump in bed with her baggage...but he'll gladly rub her too. Residents gridlock Michigan streets in protest of Governor Whitmer's coronavirus lockdown measures
or deaths are laggard so we will continue to see big numbers for a few more days. I thing I agree with your neighbors.
They have still not entered any of those in the totals because the state hasn't been able to date them yet. In reality, we likely are at over 30k deaths total.
A cashier in the Lowe's of my small town has tested positive and now all those that went through his check out line as well as his co-workers were exposed. Just have to wait a couple of weeks to see how many are positive. I think this incidence may be what the future holds if the economic start up happens too quickly - except, of course, on a much broader scale. ........................................................................................................ This from our county health dept. This individual presented to the Cherokee County Health Department seeking evaluation for symptoms of COVID-19 and was tested. This person was informed of the need to isolate at the time of testing, however, this person had been symptomatic for close to two weeks prior to seeking care. . ........... Due to the individual continuing to work and be in the community prior to and after becoming symptomatic, public health officials anticipate there to be potential for additional exposure who are not easily identifiable. This individual works at Lowe’s ......... However, if you have been to the Lowe’s located in Murphy, NC any time between March 22nd and April 7th ................................................................................ I wonder how many people checked out through his register in those 16 days. I have avoided Lowe's (our only home improvement store in the county) for a long while despite the many things needing doing around here.
"Conservatives": we should focus lockdowns on the areas that are in the worst shape and loosen restrictions in other areas. Also "conservatives": we are being too draconian in one of the areas that is in the worst shape. Perhaps those out protesting should look at the pictures of bodies stacked in sleep study rooms because they were out of morgue space at some hospitals in Michigan.
I wonder how many wear a mask and continuously touch their face by adjusting it. I wonder how many people bring home produce and eat it without washing it. I wonder how many people do stupid stuff and feel invincible because they DID wear a mask. Not saying don't wear one, just that people do stupid stuff that negate wearing it.
"Operation Gridlock," a protest organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition and the Michigan Freedom Fund, was created to address the lockdown measure that they refer to as "tyranny." Yeah, I'm sure the Michigan Conservative Coalition and the Michigan Freedom Fund are very representative of typical Michiganders.
and (Trump) can't talk about opening the economy if the number of cases keep going up. cut the testing, cut the number of cases found. this isn't that hard to figure out
and maybe that is why the dems did not protest the fat giveaway to the real estate developers. more $$ to them in tax write-offs than to the health care network. Pelosi owns it as much as Trump does.
Not sure if you're in Florida or not, but Florida is actually doing pretty decent on a per capita basis. You're still talking about a versus that one-tenth of one percent of the population have and a virus that if you get it, your chances of death are still pretty low. And this is after it's had 6 or 7 weeks to explode. It's simply unrealistic to expect people to be shut ins for months on end for a virus that is still so rare. A couple of weeks is one thing, but it's unrealistic to think people are just going to shut down for 3 months and do nothing. Your chances of getting the virus if you social distance properly in public are pretty miniscule.
and don't get me started on gloves...if you do not take them off and throw them away when you leave the store/gas station/bank teller, etc they are useless. I carry a wibe that I refresh with purell. If I have to touch something outside our house that is the point of contact. the mask is more to protect others than yourself in all reality. It is intended to reduce the perimeter impact of any person whether they have the virus or not. that is why n95 isn't critical and a bandana or buff over your mouth and nose works.
Sweden having hard time getting drugs. Turns out it takes a lot of meds to keep that many people intubated that long and the world doesn't have enough now. Wait till this gets going in third world countries and all that demand kicks in. Japan is ready to pop as is Brazil, Mexico, and many parts of Africa. Swiss ICUs face drug bottlenecks as world scrambles for coronavirus meds ZURICH (Reuters) - Switzerland faces shortages of medicine including painkillers needed to treat coronavirus patients in the country's intensive care units, a health ministry official said on Tuesday, as the country competes with others on the international market to buy more drugs. "There are real bottlenecks for essential medicines in intensive care...There has been some easing of the situation, but in the long term it's a huge problem," said Patrick Mathys, head of the Swiss federal health ministry's crisis resolution team. "We're trying as much as we can to buy more on the international market, but you can imagine, just like protective masks, these medicines are in demand."
I think the vast majority has no idea what they are doing. It sure would be nice if one of these press conferences would go over this stuff one of these days.
Has anyone complained lately they can’t get tested other than this article? I seem to remember a bunch of governors screaming about that and ventilators. We know the ventilators haven’t been an issue lately after that initial week or so. I think (just my opinion) the initial freak out was a lot higher than higher than reality and those numbers are actually meeting the true flow. Had we not implemented a shut down those initial figures may have come to fruition. Things like these, especially when predictions are astronomical, work them selves into a flow and we see the true outcome. We don’t know what model this story used in string a shortage. Did they use initial test numbers that were inflated to make the assumption tests are not as plentiful?
Yes, there are still complaints about testing shortages. U.S. Labs Face Crisis After Crisis Despite Improvements in Testing Shortage of key chemical forces hospitals to prioritize and limit coronavirus testing Why America is still failing on coronavirus testing
