This morning it was Foxnews' headline as well. With that said, I find both CNN and Foxnews horribly biased. It's like neither can find a single good thing to say about the other side. Fundamentally though, it's really the readers' fault. If American people actually want "fair and balanced" reporting, these news sites would be doing so. Unfortunately, most people just want to read things that confirm their existing biases, and these multi-billion dollar businesses are more than happy to comply.

I don't know where the fatality rates between countries will end up or how it will eventually be normalized given disparate testing strategies and healthcare shortages. But I must caution against this particular point-in-time comparison due to time lag. We've seen about 300,000 new US cases in the last 10 days and this disease takes 18+ days on average to kill.

I'm sure there will be tons of research on this pandemic when things slow down.

Sounds good, they have the capability, so lets get them working on our side.

It sounds straightforward, but Trump doesn't like being a shipping clerk, so he wants to do it a different, no worries as long as it works.

Then I get to this, wait, what?
What happened to serving the greater good? Making sure the states have what they need?

We instituted this airbridge program where we the people are paying for charter cargo flights to get supplies here faster.

We are footing the bill for them to be able to service their clients better? What kind of messed of grift is this? We have more important things than profit margins to be dealing with right now.

Density and public transportation play a big role. Subways in NYC are giant petri dishes with everyone packed in like sardines

Obviously, there is a problem with selection here: you specifically chose the worst hit locations and then combined them whereas the United States is not just a selection of random regions that have been hit hard. This can easily be done in reverse to show you the issue with this logic. So the population of the UK is 66.65 million. UK has a population that is similar to New York+New Jersey+Connecticut+Massachusetts+Michigan+Louisiana+DC+Washington+Indiana. Here is the comparison of UK with those locales:

    UK

    # cases = 152,271
    # deaths = 9,875

    New York+New Jersey+Connecticut+Massachusetts+Michigan+Louisiana+DC+Washington+Indiana

    # cases = 336,623
    # deaths = 15,059

I was reading about the possibility too that it's possible that the spread of this virus might not slow with warmer weather as some have suggested earlier. That thinking is based on (obviously) the seasonal flu, but we don't know yet how this virus will continue so we can't just assume that even if/when we bend the curve, that the numbers will drop so much as to it not being an issue.

Still too much unknown, but I'm not optimistic about things like sports or even schooling, or anything with large crowds that we'd consider normal or customary human activity will be back before the end of the year. Possible, but like I said, I'm not optimistic right now.

It's what happens when you have incompetent leadership and a bunch of rich people champing at the bit to get their piece of the pie. We could have used the DPA weeks ago to ensure the hospitals and areas that need it are getting what they need. But nope, we don't have a real President. Only a person playing one for TV.

This guy is speaking the truth. There are airlines that will survive because they were not overleveraged. Some may go thru Chapter 11 reorg and will emerge with a rational capital structure (and hopefully management). Yes, investors and debtors who fed off the management paying dividends and buying back stock with debt will lose. Management will lose. But the companies and their workers will largely emerge from this.

These companies have capital markets from which the bought back stock. NOW they should issue stock when they need capital. Yes, it will lower the stock price you poor babies. Do not come running to the government to preserve your artificially inflated stock price.

    Random visual.

Using the current data, if you filled The Swamp every game for two years with no one going to more than one game, you would have roughly 1 Million different fans attend.
Of that 1 Million, 36 would likely dies from the Corona Virus. That is a very small number especially when you consider that number is skewed greatly by what is happening in NYC.
(This is not told in the context of mass gatherings, but just as a visual of how few people die per million relatively speaking.)

    1. It tells me our efforts are working.
    2. It tells me that I miss sports very badly.
    3. It means we will beat the breaks of UGA this year.*

    * I added number three just because I hate UGA.

You gave me an Idea. I need to write a fake news article to forward to Mrs51 saying that sex kills the virus due to heavy breathing or at least something along those lines.
