I'm 34 and got a full "executive physical" last fall. In perfect health, minus slightly elevated liver enzymes. Notice my screen name which is a bar from Gainesville when I joined this site at 20 years old.

Yeah, I fared much better than most people. It still really sucked for that 48 hours that didn't "fare well".

It is such a new phenomenon that we don't really know what we don't know.

I will eventually be one of the 26-40 year olds that was hospitalized and officially recovered.

And I don't want to be anywhere near a healthcare facility. They were rolling in patients in MUCH worse shape every few minutes.

The number of new cases seems to be lessening pretty significantly in western Europe as well. I suspect we'll start to see less than 20,000 new cases a day by next week.

 

Of course, now that things are looking better, you won't give Trump any credit for that. He gets all the blame when things go bad, but when things improve ahead of projections, no credit. And I'm the one doing mental gymnastics... lol. Much like the economy.. all the success was Obama. Then we hit tough times it's Trump's fault. When the economy recovers like a lion, I'm certain you'll find a way to strip him of any credit. That bubble must be cozy.

 

I was listening to his press conference - on March 23rd, I think - when he was asked about the DPA. His response gave me the distinct impression that he had no idea what it was. Paraphrasing, but his response was basically, "it's a thing we could do. It's a very big thing. You all know what it means. It's something I may consider doing later."

His comments and (in)actions regarding using the DPA since then have only strengthened my opinion that he first learned of the Defense Production Act from that reporter's question, and he has only marginally grasped its purpose since then. He announced the next day that he was going to sign it, again saying nothing about specifics, only "you all know what that means." Then he signed it Wednesday but didn't invoke it (because why?), arguing that it was basically nationalizing businesses (wrong).

Then, when he started facing serious backlash in the public perception as things escalated in NYC and across the country, he tried to scapegoat GM in some tweets about how they weren't building the ventilators they'd promised to (they were, despite his administration refusing to finalize the $1B order to GM because they doubted the need), and finally claimed to invoke it via a tweet. Which had the distinctively similar feel to The Office episode when Michael Scott screamed "I declare bankruptcy!!!!!!!!!" and thought that's actually how you declared it.

I understand that people like him. Even smart and wise people that I respect. I even understand the thought process of "anything is better than a Democrat," despite despising that sense of blind tribalism without any nuance. I do not understand how anyone could actually watch these chains of events and conclude that he's fit to serve in this office. Forget media bias, his own words and actions condemn him on a daily basis.

U.S. to seize exports of masks and gloves amid coronavirus crisis

WASHINGTON, April 8 (Reuters) - The United States will seize exports of key protective medical gear until it determines whether the equipment should be kept in the country to combat the spread of the new coronavirus, two federal agencies announced on Wednesday.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) will hold exports of respirators, surgical masks and surgical gloves, according to a joint announcement made with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA will then determine if the equipment should be returned for use in the United States, purchased by the U.S. government or exported.

President Donald Trump issued a memorandum on Friday that directed federal agencies to use any authority necessary to keep the highly sought-after medical supplies in the United States.

So how did they treat you? I've had a dry cough for 4 weeks now and am winded when I walk up hills during my 1 hour neighborhood exercise walk. dont know if winded and shortness of breadth are synonymous. I'm guessing not. My doctor has not suggested I be tested at this time. He just gave me an antibiotic figuring that if i've been coughing that long, perhaps there's a bacterial infection. Also gave me cough syrup and an inhaler.

 

So the plan all along was to stall, do little, and downplay "the flu" until the models showed millions of deaths, THEN tell Americans to flatten the curve themselves and take credit for only 60,000 fatalities. Gotta give impeachedpotus credit for recognizing the suicide potential.... if I have to watch one more pathetic briefing, I'll be considering it myself.

I went into the ER because something didn’t feel “right”. Had no idea it would be my heart was beating twice as fast as normal. I personally went from fine exercising to winded, to holy shit I need to go to the ER. I had two telemedicine appointments with my primary care physician, so would go that route first.

something really wierd just showed up on worldometer. nevada went from 2067 active cases yesterday to 24634 today, over 22000 new cases, miust be a glitch, right?

 

this would put the 3rd in the country in cases, really strange if true
