Alright. First public signals of a problem in Wuhan was in Dec 2019 by AI hotspot tracker. We knew it was novel first week of Jan and the r0 in the 3rd. So my r0 claim 2 weeks off. Hardly "total misinformation." in respect to the claim that we were in the dark. So my shiny metal ass. From Dec: News Scan for Dec 31, 2019 Bloomberg has been updating this since January 7th: What You Need to Know About the Coronavirus Pandemic Other early articles about the virus's characteristics: Over a thousand 'likely' infected by Wuhan virus in China: Study Epidemiology characteristics reported from third week in January. We were told by the WHO mid-Jan no human to human transmission. Further it wasn't until late Jan that Fauci stated we were suspect but no sure of how the virus operated. Seems to me alot of BS coming our of your shiny metal ass instead of actual fact.
Congratulations America! We have now devastated the economy and have it headed full steam for a depression over Coronavirus. For those of you who do not know basic math and statistics, today we crossed over the line of .01% of the population infected. We will pay for this nonsense for decades! The aid bills to date plus the ones ahead will increase our total debt by close to 50% leaving no alternative but to devalue the currency. For those of you in your early 50’s thinking that your $1.5M 401Ks (before you lost 30% of it) will give you a comfortable retirement, you will be able to thank the so called medical experts for adding another 10 years to your working careers.
If you are going to talk about "basic math and statistics" you should probably get the numbers correct. You missed by an order of magnitude. 0.1% of the population has been confirmed to have the disease (we passed 0.01% exactly 2 weeks ago). And that is before we get into the point of having no idea how many actually have it given the shortage of testing, which continues, or that diseases with an R0 of 2.2 spread very fast without measures to prevent that spread.
I shall post a correction to your comment . From 1/20: China confirmed that the deadly Wuhan virus sweeping the country can spread from human to human, increasing the risk of an epidemic
So you So you're one of those people who has to appear in the know even when you are wrong.. I got it. You confirmed what I said.. WHO put out a statement from China no human to human transmission (Jan 14). Fauci suspected late Jan human to human but he didn't know how it was spread (droplets, touch blood etc). For the record you said which i originally responded to "Lastly, the we knew in first week in JANUARY that the reproductive number was 2.3-2.7 and the fatality rate was estimated at 2% at the time. " Which is obvious bullshit by what we both wrote. Thanks for the correction.
You’re right my bad on the extra zero. Doesn’t change the point of the post. We have ruined ourselves for decades for something that MIGHT have killed considerably less than 1% of the population. We will regret what we have done for decades.
Just to be clear that is “MIGHT have killed less than 330,000 Americans” MIGHT have killed more too. We don’t know.
10 days in and he can't get healthy. Not a good sign. Taking the herd immunity route early on hasn't worked out so well for Boris personally to date. .
We don’t know. They may be taking extra precautions for him. The disease is a 2 to 3 week process. Let’s wait for facts
Or perhaps they should say thanks for allowing them and their kids 10+ more years with their parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles, etc. At what price do you pick the economy over the seniors in the US who've worked hard their entire lives, fought in wars to save or expand democracy, raised families of their own but otherwise had the audacity to grow old and apparently to some, worthless (not to mention someone like the co-worker of my wife's best friend, who died from Covid19 yesterday at 54 but otherwise healthy)? I don't know the answer to the question but for me, we aren't there yet.
