I took an Alaskan cruise years ago, and I also loved it. Would do it again if I had the chance. But yeah, I think you may have to postpone it.

I nearly took a job in Alaska, but they were asking for a few years' commitment (not unreasonable). Wasn't sure I could handle living there, so I didn't want to make that sort of commitment (I take my commitments and word very seriously). It's an absolutely beautiful place and seems like such a cool place to live, but I'm not sure I could handle the cold and darkness.

 

Dark and cold, sure. But the upside, you'd be an expert on Russia.

When we get through this first wave and we open things back up we are going to have to be truly ready to test in order to do the contact tracing necessary to keep the country open and the virus under control. We are not testing at near the level needed for that at this point.

Anchorage is an all weather port. Temp there is usually consistent with Detroit area surprisingly enough. The darkness is a whole different issue though. I need my sunshine

 

I was born and raised in the South. Detroit is really, really cold lol.

 

By the way, how are these predictions from your recent postings working out for you? Is it my hatred of Trump that made you unable to see reality, or your slavish devotion to bad sources? Seriously, you really need to reconsider that the crap you are reading/listening to is.... crap.

 

You're right, but it's a matter of perspective. I went to middle & high school in Naples, where year-round temperatures ranged from maybe 68 to 92. Now I'm in a part of Minnesota where the current temperature is 8 degrees below that of Anchorage, AK. I've seen both ends, where "I don't believe it could possibly be colder than Chicago" and "I can't wait until June, so this Gosh-darned snow will melt." I look down to Detroit most days and think "hey, it looks really nice down there."

personally, if I have to wear socks it is too cold for me but I don't mind the 60 degree weather in Alaska when it is 98 with a 99 humidity level here in SW Florida

CDC Tells Hospitals To List COVID as Cause of Death Even if You're Just Assuming or It Only Contributed


Issued March 24, the guidance tells hospitals to list COVID-19 as a cause of death regardless of whether or not there’s actual testing to confirm that’s the case.

The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, or ICD, has established the code U07.1 for death by coronavirus infection. There’s a secondary code, U07.2, “for clinical or epidemiological diagnosis of COVID-19 where a laboratory confirmation is inconclusive or not available,” according to the CDC guidance.

“Because laboratory test results are not typically reported on death certificates in the U.S., NCHS is not planning to implement U07.2 for mortality statistics.”


“COVID-19 should be reported on the death certificate for all decedents where the disease caused or is assumed to have caused or contributed to death. Certifiers should include as much detail as possible based on their knowledge of the case, medical records, laboratory testing, etc.,” the guidance continued.

 

Those guidance is the same for any other disease. It also did NOT say "to list COVID-19 as a cause of death regardless of whether or not there’s actual testing to confirm that’s the case", it just said that it should be listed on the death certificate. On a death certificate there's a line for the cause of death, then additional lines for contributing causes. If COVID-19 is not the primary cause of death then the provider/coroner should list it as a contributing cause. This guidance reminds people not to omit that, because people generally don't list every single potentially contributing cause on the death certificate.

 

I had a 12 foot away conversation with a NC teacher good ole boy yesterday hiking. Great guy. He did push that “some are saying” this is a government takeover and tanks are rolling through Louisiana. I can see Covid-19 truthers are gonna start popping up. Flgtr has been laying down the tidbits they will focus on. Oh can’t wait.

 

Here is something scary--some scientists now think that coronavirus can be easily spread at the beach, even if everyone is practicing social distancing. Apparently it can survive in salt water, and mist from the crashing waves can infect people. I would have thought the virus would quickly fall apart in salt water.

It would be nice if we had enough testing that people being hospitalized with the symptoms could get tested.

 

I told the story on here already but my good friend is an anesthesiologist in the respiratory department at a local hospital. Before this whole thing ramped up a few weeks ago they had 3 deaths from elderly folks that tested negative on every test they gave them. No Covid test, obviously. Based on everything we know now she said she would bet her paycheck all 3 are unconfirmed deaths from Covid.
