There were a few in the entire 40 page thread but not on pages 6-8. And in the grand scheme of things does it really matter? I never really understood why people continually go back and forth incessantly on things that neither person will change their mind on.
Your last line is exactly one of those things we would never agree on....in totality ;)
I lean to the side of the more herd immunity you can build the better while not costing lives due to hospital overcapacity. Others possibly feel that country should have been shut down February 15th or soon thereafter thus saving as many lives as possible. Commendable on their part, I agree, but when and how are you going to reopen the country without a drug to cure the disease or a vaccine? Every life is important and this is coming from someone who has lost both parents, 5 aunt & uncles, and 4 close friends to various ailments over the last three years. As soon as you open things back up you will have another spike and have to shut down the country again in 2 months. How long do you plan to do that rodeo? Tough decisions for sure......

A really good article by Jason Horowitz of the New York Times on Italy, their struggles and how they hope to get back to work. In Italy, Going Back to Work May Depend on Having the Right Antibodies

Possible good news is that some doctors at John Hopkins believe that the actual numbers of those infected, within the US, is likely 50-100X of those who have tested positive which would be closing in on a 10th of the population.

Yep...probably because tests ran out faster than the day before. Wait until the administration cuts off testing and gets zero new cases...Im sure they will pronounce this "witch hunt" over and everyone cured. Then Trump will hastily call a conference and say he cured the pandemic by simply stopping testing (see zero new positive tests). Then he will bring out a map of the United States with a Pandemic=0 on it to prove it (although pandemic will be spelled with a Q and a Z) Buh...leeeve me.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to day to day fluctuations. Most of you have worked in an office environment; people miss deadlines - frequently. A rolling 3 day average would smooth things out a bit. Statewide, or nationwide, totals gathered from thousands of daily reporting events is going to have some fluctuation that isn't tied actual changes on the ground.

    It’s totally cool in Florida:

CAN I LEAVE HOME TO EXERCISE?
Yes. Outdoor exercise like running or taking a walk is perfectly acceptable; however, exercise gyms, fitness centers and associated facilities are closed to reduce the spread of coronavirus. While exercising outside, you should still practice social distancing by running or walking at least six feet away from other people.

Stay at home order in Florida: What you can and can’t do

The map is a variant of this early map.

Here's a first. trump's approval rating as measured by Rasmussen is on par with other surveys. I've never seen that. To show how historically biased Rasmussen is, the adjusted approval rate is 38%.

I hypothesize that this may indicated trump is losing some of his base. I will follow future Rasmussen surveys for possible confirmation. (How Popular Is Donald Trump?) upload_2020-4-4_9-4-32.png

I'm excited to see observations by climatologists of this unique period. Whereas it's not an opportunity to employ the scientific method, it may provide some evidence in support of the various anthropogenic arguments. Hold fast, America.

Is that really supposed to matter? The Trump supporters who post to this board frequently remind us that Donald Trump is the president of all Americans, not just those who voted for him, and as such he presumably speaks with the authority of the office that he holds. Implicit in the Fox News story is the notion that because she isn't a supporter of Trump she shouldn't have taken him seriously. Seems that there's a logical disconnect.

As I stated before although Donald Trump was elected to the presidency he remains the sleazy real estate developer, con artist and reality television star that he was before he became a politician.

To be fair and balanced (LOL) there has been a lot of statements made on this thread lambasting Trump over him calling the virus a hoax but even The Washington Post states that was not true, but was a manipulated Biden video And of course the left ran with it as fact. Also there is an article on the United States pandemic preparedness. I'm not posting this to get into a spitting match but to somewhat temper some of the over the top statements that are not true.

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/twitter-bias-manipulated-media
“The full quote shows Trump is criticizing Democratic talking points and the media’s coverage of his administration’s response to coronavirus,” The Washington Post's Meg Kelly wrote. “He never says that the virus itself is a hoax, and although the Biden camp included the word 'their,' the edit does not make clear to whom or what Trump is referring.”

Wrote Politifact's Daniel Funke: "The video makes it look like Trump called coronavirus 'their new hoax.' In fact, there was nearly a full minute between when the president said 'coronavirus' and 'hoax' during a Feb. 28 rally in North Charleston, S.C."

"The video makes it seem like Trump is calling the disease itself a hoax, which he hasn’t done," Funke emphasized. "Biden’s video is inaccurate. We rate it False."

US was more prepared for pandemic than any other country, Johns Hopkins study found
The United States was ranked the best-prepared country in the world to handle a pandemic in late 2019 by the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) and the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security (JHCHS) -- an assessment seemingly at odds with claims by Democrats that the Trump administration left the country vulnerable to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

You are correct, he did not call it a hoax.

However, one of the great powers of the presidency is the power of the bully pulpit to move the populace. It was an unwise choice to use that bully pulpit in a way in which the word Hoax even enters the conversation about the Coronavirus. It is poor messaging. It could have led some folks to believe it was a hoax, even if that wasn't the intention. It is indicative that his focus was internal, to the impact on him politically, instead of externally to the nation's needs.

Just because he didn't call the virus a hoax, doesn't mean it wasn't a mistake to use the word in the manner he used it. You're free to disagree.

Said this many times before. Although Trump never called the virus itself a hoax there is absolutely no doubt that he called concern over the virus a hoax. It's a distinction without a difference. Paraphrasing the Donald, the virus may be real but it's not anything that we have to worry about.
