More testing leading to earlier detection and lower death rates. Better equipped healthcare system which leads to better outcomes for those infected. But the biggest difference is average age of those infected. Germany is 46. Italy is 63. Again likely due to more widespread testing. The common theme is countries with the best outcomes so far did a ton of testing. We failed and are still failing miserably in that department. And Trump is still pretending this is not an issue.
Careful comparing numbers at this stage of the game. If you look closely, Sweden's first reported case was almost a full month ahead of Denmark and Norway yet their numbers of cases and deaths per capita to date are not all that different between the three countries. With that said all three reported their first deaths within a few days of each other but who is to say actually how accurate those numbers actually are. In another month Sweden may actually look better than the other two....time will tell.
They are further along in the timeline of infections. We need to wait a couple of weeks and see what the trends look like then. Increased cases IMO is a good thing as long as there are not corresponding spikes in hospitalizations and deaths. Different countries have different guidelines in who is tested or the actual number of tests being done so I really try to focus on the trends in hospitalizations and deaths.
I'd like to see a chart not of total cases but of cases/million persons. That would account for differences in populations.

A business associate of mine has businesses all across Europe and even one in India. He said that they shut all business down in India completely. He said don't believe the reports of number of cases and deaths in India.
India is definitely shut down which has hurt my company on about a half dozen of our projects. I don’t have the video link but there’s a mass exodus of people leaving the cities and going back to rural homes. The people were packed shoulder to shoulder and overwhelmed borders and public transportation including train stations. There was one darkly amusing thing I noticed. In a video I saw where a massive crowd was packed in to get through security or a checkpoint. After what appeared would be several hours of waiting in the crowd, when it was your turn they had chalked circles six feet apart on the ground for social distancing...

Look at the actual cases per million Germany isn't doing any better than the US, actually they are doing worse.. Much higher prevelance of the disease and their % of serious is far higher than the US. Wish I could copy the table to this post... UK had 563 deaths reported today. If the US had the same per capita it would be around 3500. They are getting crushed.
Sure.... it's difficult to predict rends right now with numbers jumping all over for various reasons from different places, but we can see what shakes out.
Spoke to my wife this morning on video and she told me some interesting information about what is going on in the Maldives. Before I left they had already stopped international arrivals and what was once a very busy airport was suddenly 3 flights coming in empty and going out with foreign tourists and expats. All travel between islands was made illegal and locals restricted to the resorts and face arrest if trying to "escape". 3 Maldivians were arrested for trying to swim to their home islands, of which are in some cases a 1/4 mile from the resort island. Schools have been closed for months, banks closed for weeks, government shutdown completely for weeks and life is basically a empty day and night of nothingness. So, the wife and kids are down south in Addu (former UK military base was there so the people are much more westernized in their thinking) and no cases have been identified there but the restrictions are very tight. She told me she was feeling very tired and thinks she needs an IV solution because of dehydration and was going to go to the clinic. She goes, tells them she needs an IV (folks, I have actually gone into the clinic and told them what prescription I needed and what my medical condition was and they never asked any questions) and neither the doctor or nurses are wearing masks and she was never asked about any outlying health issues. So basically they are locking everyone down and not allowing movement on the island but the medical professionals are simply taking it as another day.
You understand going home but its suicidal. Just one infected person in a rural town could wipe them out because of lack of medical care.
Testing. They are testing the asymptomatic there. They have one of the highest testing rates around. Their death rate per million is still lower than our rate.
