Does this count as having one's own narrative? "I truly believe there are some on here that truly hope we have 3 million die from this just so they can blame someone."
Smart move on Trumps part....If he answers no the MSM is all over his ass, if he answers yes and one single person dies because he/she couldn't get a ventilator the MSM is all over his ass. The reporter knew this and asked the question anyway.
Wouldn't the smart answer be: "We're all in this together, and the country is coming together now to work hard to try and ensure that every person has access to a ventilator. *Discuss new deal with the car makers*" You don't make an empty promise, but you strike an optimistic tone and tout your accomplishment.
Today was the deadliest day for COVID-19 in the US. It also was one of the deadliest in Italy. And that doesn't bode well for us. The more cases we have, the more that will need hospitalization, and the more there will people who won't be able to get the treatment they need. Which will unfortunately increase the death rate. The number of new cases in Italy is slowing down, thankfully, but with a 10-14 day incubation period, and the first week of showing symptoms is usually mild, hospitalization doesn't usually happen until three weeks. And patients who need hospitalization require an additional week to 10 days, we could be a few weeks before we hit our peak. And I thought we'd peak at 2,000 deaths and this would all be over by 3/30. Am I right?
China claims all "54" new cases today were imported from outside the country. Coronavirus Update (Live): 595,915 Cases and 27,340 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer
My point is these are the types of questions he is getting every press conference. The media is trying to walk him into situational questions that have no exact answer so they can use whatever answer he gives against him. The reporter knew the answer before he asked it, why ask a question you already know has no definitive answer?
The media is asking tough questions of the President during a crisis? That's the job. Part of the job is understanding how to navigate those questions. That's why it's not an easy one to have.
NY’s relatively final numbers came in, nearly 7000 new cases and 138 deaths. Almost 400 deaths today in the US.
Are you even reading the thread? I am not saying hundreds of millions. I was agreeing with the poster that said it would actually be good news if that was the case. Show me a link where I "downplay" this, and I will show you ten where I say we are doing the right thing.
And doubling down on your misogyny may impress a certain ilk, as we have seen here, but it doesn’t communicate I have this crisis handled. The press is supposed to ask hard questions of the President. Hard questions are what concerned people want to know. And thoughtful answers demonstrate a President who has thought about and cares about the welfare of the citizenry. A malignant narcissist who is incapable of thinking about anyone but himself sees that as a narcissistic injury that he needs to retaliate against with an ad hominem attack—because ad hominem is the only thing a narcissist understands.
He does indeed have a unique way of dealing with those questions and I for one happen to like it. He is not ducking anybody he is out there every single day for an hour answering their questions. I get the feeling by now he knows before he calls on a reporter what kind of question he will be getting and is probably quite tired of some of them.
No he’s not. He’s responding to questions. He’s not answering them. It’s the difference between substance and word salad. And he’s out there every day because a narcissist needs to be out there. He doesn’t have his rallies for a narcissistic reward. He needs this to obtain what he got there. And when it gets worse, it will be a source of narcissistic injury and eventually he won’t be out there.
I was just messaging with a cousin that lives in NYC. Says still plenty of people not taking it seriously. Out and about, playing outside with their kids, no social distancing.
The problem is the questions you are calling hard questions most of us know the answer before Trump answers them. Those of you who are anti everything Trump says are at home thinking, good question. Those of us who see it for the game they are playing are at home thinking, you idiot you already know the answer, Trump don't answer that question.

Bonus? I have 23 people working for me that will be paid for the next month. After that, they have no idea. They don't care about bonus, they care about mortgage.
He lies. He insults the reporter when he cannot answer questions. That is his unique way of handling questions.
