And nobody is tracking morbidity rates of the number of people that are going to have long term challenges from lung scarring after recovering from week + on ventilators. Their life will be different afterwards and subject to being much shorter due to the post recovery complications related to decreased lung capacity

Dealing with a tough situation doesn't rationalize him being all over the place with comments on status of the outbreak and our preparedness, nor does it rationalize him pointing fingers everywhere he possibly can to blame others.

That is the behavior of someone in way over their head, with no sense of personal accountability or accountability to the nation he swore an oath to serve and protect.

Thanks for this. These facts are why I'm concerned for Americans in general. We are not very healthy.

Why the left is drooling over testing all these runny nose only people now and were calling for it previously - the narrative since we have one of the lowest deaths to population ratios in the West.

Diabetes is such a vague category though. I have type II diabetes that is controlled with medication. My A1C is 7.0 and I believe that anything above 6.5 is now considered to be diabetic. Fasting sugar in usually around 140 - 150 which is just above cutoff so technically I am diabetic.

I imagine we will get some clarification soon. My sister explained why someone with very badly controlled diabetes would have complications from COVID-19 (something about 24/7 dialysis) but I can't recall the exact explanation. I'll see if she can explain again.

Everybody stop looking at the bad news. Geeze, bad news sells papers. The overall death rate is closer to 1% when you factor in everyone who has the virus that either show no symptoms, have very mild symptoms, or can weather it at home without the hospitals knowing about it. The only time you hear of deaths is either cases like the Texas father or people who have been admitted into a hospital. Tom Hanks has it yet he is doing fine and he's 63 and a diabetic. As for being "healthy", there's no way to know until postmortem. The Texas dad may have had underlying conditions he didn't know about. Men in the early to mid 40s still think they are 20-somethings until they go to a doctor and find out they are pre-hypertensive, border-line diabetic, etc. There's just no way to really know right now because autopsies aren't really being done. People are being cremated.

TDS is very strong here with the poster breakdowns by their political leanings right now. Its like was said here the other day by a poster that doesn't usually post on the toohot forum to much. This place can make CNN look like an actual Trump rally in comparison at times.

    Seriously? This is easily checked.

    Canada: 53/37.59 = 1.398
    Australia: 13/24.60 = 0.528
    Germany: 321/82.79 = 3.877
    Ireland: 19/4.83 = 3.934
    Norway: 19/5.368 = 3.540
    Finland: 7/5.513 = 1.270
    US: 1473/327.2 = 4.502

Did your "experts" tell you something that is obviously and clearly false or did you come up with it on your own?

Nice picking there - now do the other big Western European Countries. We are one of the better ones by far.

The more stats we can obtain, the better educated our policy decision can be. Unfortunately, 120 million+ Americans have heart disease (according to the American Heart Association) mainly because our diet sucks.

    I picked 6. Here are 6 more:

    New Zealand: 0/4.794 = 0
    Israel: 12/8.712 = 1.377
    Poland: 16/37.98 = 0.421
    Czech Republic: 9/10.65 = 0.845
    Greece: 28/10.74 = 2.607
    Croatia: 3/4.076 = 0.736

Want any more? I guess if you ignore all the countries with lower death/population rates than us, we are one of the lowest. Seriously, when you are this wrong and intransigent on easily checked matters, it shows how ridiculous everything you are saying is.

Trump stupidly tweeted of the closed and sold Lordstown plant that GM “MUST immediately open their stupidly abandoned Lordstown plant in Ohio, or some other plant, and START MAKING VENTILATORS, NOW!!!!!! FORD, GET GOING ON VENTILATORS, FAST!!!!!!”

I was reminded of this scene...
