Ha:cool::D...Not trying to make assumptions. I think your reasoning is sound. I think using it as a sign of when we hit the hump makes sense.
I just want to remind people of the other shoe.

It doesn't matter, its all about public perception.
You send your people back to work, someone test positive and is sick(doesn't matter where or how), you have to shut back down. The public sees you as the evil owner who only wants profits. They stop going into your store,

I see your point. I had you in mind to an extent, but others too. The others were more about their very misguided attitude toward this situation. My personal opinion, the most important numbers are the rapidly increasing number of cases and deaths, and the lag in testing. Not saying you're doing this, but these numbers need not be compared to numbers from other places nor to past pandemics in order to understand the seriousness of this situation--literally people are dying from catching an uncontrolled/uncontrollable virus and that virus is spreading rapidly. This is what's driving the extreme response, especially since there's no indication that we are even close to bending the curve and it's hard to predict when this will happen.

You may very well be right about all of this, but how do we know? People thought Italy was nowhere close either, but it is starting to look like maybe they are seeing the curve start to turn.

OR, perhaps she's part of the conspiracy to kill off old, homeless and ill people and get them off the entitlement program rolls?

Good to hear he is ignoring the media hysteria and staying on point. Wouldn't be surprised if we see a Fauci resignation soon to try and build the hysteria in the media since Trump will not take his advice which is to keep this going a good bit longer so the economy is crushed even worse even though every prediction from his type have proven to be a joke. That lady doctor sounds like she would be willing to say its sensible if you take precautions.

Then I can just grin at the mostly lockdowned leftist Governor states and show them afterwards how it didn't seem to change the outcome any by doing that at this pount.

We don't know, which is why the retrospective (and current) numbers are what we have to go by.

Things could change soon, or maybe not, maybe it's a month from now? Maybe two? Even then, we'll probably have to social distance much longer after the curve bends because we don't have any prophylactic, viable treatment, vaccine, or herd immunity.

Basically we're trying to borrow time to save lives and prevent illness, and prevent crushing our healthcare system.

This is just it. These crazy numbers are what so many here are banking on. Birx is no slouch. Her history with HIV progress is unmatched. She is a rockstar in this field.

She wont sell clicks and ad revenue with her numbers, but they are much more realistic in my opinion.

That said Fever, she would 100% disagree with you that this is some kind of political conspiracy.
Of course politicians and people with agendas will capitalize and take the opportunity to benefit from this, but that does not mean this was some pre-hatched plan.

People who want tighter immigration will pounce on the opportunity to point out when an illegal commits a crime.
People who hate trump will pounce on the opportunity to point to how bad they think he is doing in a crisis.

But that is a far cry from the entire world secretly coming together to oust Trump.
If that was the case the virus would have a cure tomorrow as the conspirators see his approval numbers rising.

In other words, their "conspiracy" is backfiring and they better find a vaccine/treatment tomorrow.

But yes. I am very impressed with Birx. She brings much needed class and knowledge to these pressers along with Dr. Fauci.

Trump & YOU are working against the very things you say you want. His stupid ass covering tweets aren't going to mean more people go to work sooner; they mean less people will go to work later. He has no authority over people going back to work, but his tweets will cause less vigilance causing a delay in getting the economy up & running. So YOU are advocating for prolonged economic suffering. No matter what Trump sez, no matter what YOU say, there is going to be a strong negative correlation between coronavirus cases & economic numbers, hence, we should be taking action to lower the coronavirus numbers. His own base is scared of films with sub-titles....they gonna flock back to a scary workplace.

Please post your scientific proof that social distancing and lock downs would not make a difference. Please post the proof Trump is relying on. Or, the governor of Mississippi.

Or, are you just another anti-science zealot who believes that whatever Trump says is true?

Evidently, because you think that Trump knows more about the spread of disease than the nation's leading expert-- who has served 6 presidents.

Evidently, another deep stater because he pushes back against Trump's lies.

How did mardi Gras work out for New Orleans?

No empirical date supports anything you say or Trump says.

Know this: Trump want to accept significantly more illness and death.

And, Trump could care less if you died.

It would bother him if your bot network was disconnected.

Yep I am trying to think of a time we ever did this besides this being less than Swine Flu here if it stays on this track.

We didnt shut in for 57/58 pandemic or H1N1 - did we even do nutty stuff like this during points of the spanish flu? I think everyone kept working etc.

If I didnt know the ulterior motives here I would think they just wanted a practice run for when the big one really was coming and wanted a real life simulation of how good measures worked.

I get it...but lets say that most of the symptomatic folks are now being tested. Lets say we are doing a good job of tracing their contacts and such. If those things are true, we have no idea if the bubble will really go as far out as some think.

Almost all of the projections are built on false premises of less being done than we are doing. (See Dr. Birx comments)
I make no claims to have any idea. We are all just seeing numbers upon numbers. Time will tell, but I still think we just don't know.

I meant it. Your comments struck a chord with me. I appreciate honest appraisals of what you're experiencing.

I hear you. My sister and BiL own a bus company in Westchester, NY. They've shut it down for a month other than some of the corporate work that might need them. They're able to pay their several salaried employees but none of the drivers are getting paid and I know they're racked with guilt about it.

I agree, but.....they don't call me Dr. Dysfunctional for nothing. Unintended consequence: This incentives young healthy people or even just financially desperate people to expose themselves to the virus. I'd be fine with that if it weren't for the ease with which it spreads. Not saying it will not be a good thing on net, but we gotta take the anguish with the ecstasy.
