You guys realize that NYC has limited beds and ICU beds, right? They're almost certainly at 100% capacity currently. In fact, judging by my and my wife's 4 years as a doctor there, they're pretty much at capacity every flu season. The number of hospitalized or in ICU cannot go up without adding more beds. Mortality rate will likely suffer going forward.

You realize with the conversion capacity they have they aren't close to being overrun. Its only like 850 ICU spots now.

This media hyping is out of control to reality. Just like Cuomo hollering when he had 7000 ventilators now for those 850 ICU patients and 4,000 in route.

So, a buddy of mine is a fireman/EMT in Miami. He and his crew responded to a call the other night for an older man in severe respiratory distress. So bad in fact, that he died en route to the hospital. Of course, this gentleman had never been tested because he apparently wasn't sick enough until he was.
Yes, it's suspected covid-19, and they're waiting on test results to confirm. Meanwhile my buddy and his crew all sitting in quarantine/isolation, because they didn't have masks (ran out and waiting for resupply), and are now waiting on their own test results and quarantine to end so they can get back out there to help.
With test availability being an issue, I'll wager there are quite a few going unreported right now.

Just need some reality here. They have empty beds there ready to go where they have went and converted other hospital space just in case.

The people being hospitalized need ventilators and medicine. The health care professionals need protective equipment.

If all we needed were beds we could farm this out to Airbnb. Problem solved.

You realize you are responding to a doctor who has posted throughout his information and advise? What are your medical qualifications?

Arizona has only 400 confirmed cases, but the Governor just went on TV and said the state is preparing to open up 3 mobile hospitals, 2 in Phoenix and 1 in Tucson, to handle the incoming influx of patients. The state is preparing things to get much worse before it gets better.

I'm the only one tracking this number, it has ticked up again 15 to 16%. Needs to go down to get on the back side of the curve
    CLOSED CASES
    134,744
    Cases which had an outcome:
    113,802 (84%)
    Recovered / Discharged

    20,942 (16%)

Great graphic....thanks for providing. I was specifically talking about number of daily tests being done compared to the rest of the world. As of today I would not be surprised if we will have passed UK on the graph above by the end of the month. We are doing supposedly 65,000+ tests a day, which if we calculated 60,000 as a base times 6 days and added to the 313.6 in the graph above would put us at 1,091 per million. The UK the last I saw was doing 4,000 tests daily so they would be at 1,321.
    We are making progress.
