    I'll disagree here.
    A) There were dozens of stories about the "malaria" drug working in France and China days before Trump said a word.
    B) If you are STUPID enough to take a pill that is designed to treat or kill parasites in fish you get what you get.

Many places are using it now outside of clinical trials....

And that's not bad, it will increase the data set.

I agree with B, As for A, I saw an article where they interviewed the woman and she directly said Trump said it was cure and safe.

Arizona man dies after taking coronavirus 'cure' Trump touted with false claims

Ok I have seen some numbers tell me just in a ballpark how many tests have been conducted in the US and what % of those have been negative?

Tests now are a non issue if a state wants a test done but most are being sensible now like most other countries.

I'll have to watch the entire presser, what I saw he didn't say it was approved for Corona virus but that it was "an old med for malaria that was FDA approved that had been used with great success in some patients in France and China"..

I can provide the quote if it helps.
Fact check: Trump wrongly claims FDA 'approved' drug chloroquine to treat the coronavirus - CNNPolitics
"It's shown very encouraging -- very, very encouraging early results. And we're going to be able to make that drug available almost immediately. And that's where the FDA has been so great. They -- they've gone through the approval process; it's been approved. And they did it -- they took it down from many, many months to immediate. So we're going to be able to make that drug available by prescription or states," Trump said.

    Good info.

Made me curious as to what's up and found this article that could be of use to folks: COVID-19 Testing Sites in Tampa Bay: Coronvirus Drive-Through Testing

Indicates that testing capacity is quite limited and only patients that meet screening criteria should be referred for testing.

    Screening to qualify for testing:

Animals are often prescribe the same drugs as us humans. The difference is their strength and combination of other drugs in them. Every one of them say “not for human consumption” for a reason.

You can blame Trump for a lot of stuff but not for some idiot swallowing a pill for an aquarium.

Qualifying is the proper way, unless the steps are too restrictive. People have differing symptoms. It’s that balance that’s difficult.

No. Blaming him for an idiot taking a pill used for an aquarium that happens to have that drug in it.

Yep smart doctors have been using this for a little while. Anecdotal some Dr had over 200 inpatients with no death after using it. Not sure how many were very serious when given the stuff.

If our president hadn't said those words, would this man have put that drug into his body?

don't disagree, not following close enough to what he said but it is what the couple believed he said.
It just points to the larger issue that Trump's words matter. People who believe in him will take what he says as fact without question.

What issues did this cause exactly?

Finding out how many were really infected? Identifying who truly needs to be quarantined? These seem like they would be classified as benefits of testing, not issues.
