Not really. If they don't test and somebody dies from a mysterious illness, we might think it but wouldn't know for sure. Given our testing problems, no way are we catching all of the cases. The H1N1 number that has been listed here is an estimate (with a pretty wide error rate, actually) rather than an accounting of positive test receiving people for this reason.

Deaths are a better number, but are almost certainly not a great measure either, especially in locations without extensive testing.

Fact checking Trump's claim on swine flu tests - CNNPolitics

    Nice spin...

Within the next four months, more than 1 million tests "were shipped to 120 domestic and 250 international laboratories in 140 countries," according to the CDC's report.

    Care to back that up?

We are 67 days past the first confirmed case in the US.

The first H1N1 case in the US was 3/17/2009. 67 days past that puts us at 5/23/2009.

    WHO | Influenza A(H1N1) - update 37

As of 5/23/2009 there were a total of 9 deaths due to H1N1 in the US.

There were 140 new covid19 fatalities today. As of 3/23/2020 there have been 553 deaths due to covid19 in the US.

Full list of H1N1 updates here for anyone who wants to pull earlier or later numbers for different comparisons.

Nowhere in that quote does he say "should" he says HE and others he spoke with "WOULD" be willing. Those two things are a million miles apart.
Some here would want you banned for being wrong ;)

Should and would are miles apart.
I guarantee my dad and father-in-law would agree with him. They have worked into their 60's and early 70's to make my life and my kids lives better. They wont throw that away for a less than 10% chance something bad. I think most GP's WOULD take the risk.

LOL...1M tests in the first month? Try first 5 months:
See how easy it is for us all to claim the other is wrong...This is way to fluid. That is my point about Fever. It also says the CDC "sent out" 1M over 5 months. There is no stat attached that says how many of those ended up administered.

My first reason would be this stuff isn't even in the ball park of how many people catch the flu - swine flu then or otherwise - My guess now would be about 250k people have got this stuff at most in the US.

HUGE difference. My own father would say that he WOULD take the risk, but he would not claim that you SHOULD.
HUGE difference and to state one is the other as that poster did is similar to what some here are wanting bans issued over..

For starters, H1N1 was cruel to the young and old alike. Not saying it will end up worse, but that is a factor in this.
