Yep the media would have to stage scenes like they do sometimes to show these overflowing hospitals everywhere in the US from coronavirus except for a few in NY.
Let's take a look at California. 1. Since the first 53 cases were identified by March 4th, CA has gone from averaging 19 new cases a day to 200 cases a day and this third week isn't even done. 2. In other words, the rate of cases in CA has been tripling each week. 3. Not enough testing yet to make any determination about it *not materializing* You are working from a faulty premise since the numbers are showing otherwise. 4. If the worst case scenario doesn't materialize, it could be that the shelter at home social distancing put in place by Newsom is bending the curve. But it's way too early to know, in particular because the trend is skyrocketing right now. Basically an exponential curve but somewhat less than NY and and nationally. Comparisons 1. The current trajectory for the country is that this will be far worse than H1N1, projecting out from current numbers. 2. At best the only comparison we can make between the two outbreaks is on the same timeline. You cannot compare the entirety of the H1N1 outbreak to this currently much shorter timeframe, not without caveats, one of them recognizing that we are in the throes of this pandemic right now where H1N1 is already complete.
Global closed case death rate has increased to 14% Coronavirus Update (Live): 374,708 Cases and 16,350 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer
NY is almost half of today's deaths alone. The death rate is relatively stable in the other 49 states nationwide...outside of that area. On average about 1-2 deaths per state. NY has 43 today. Same yesterday where NY had more than one half of all deaths and the other 49 averaged about one death each.
CA is just a few days behind WA which has peaked or is clearly topping now. It never took good hold there - probably because its March now. H1N1 isn't a comparison because they weren't crazy testing for that as far as test confirmed cases go. Only the NE area going exponential increase will make this top much higher than where it is now in that 100- 150 type range imo because MI and them won't give enough numbers to do it I think. There will be no bending the curve and jumping back after with this because it will be April. Maybe in November it returns like the Flu.
Yeah, we don't need to ban on the basis being argued. He is a civil poster with some unusual ideas and beliefs. I practice benign neglect.
