I just saw an email that said the Tokyo Olympics have been postponed. It was unavoidable at this point.

Good news is that Italy might have finally peaked. They have gone down the last two days, hopefully it’s not just an aberration.

Wasn't yesterday Italy's highest day yet? I can't keep track.

Edit: nm. The 21st was the highest. That website can be pretty confusing at times.

Nice to hear that you're okay Limey.
The English and Germans are sensible people and fairly disciplined IMHO.
I knew the Italians ignored rules and regulations as part of their cultural DNA,
but are Spaniards equally oblivious, in denial or just without the proper resources?
Love to hear your European perspective.

In Germany, the head of the country’s leading public health advisory body said the exponential upwards curve in new confirmed coronavirus infections was levelling off for the first time, due to strict social distancing measures in force across the country. Lothar Wieler, the president of the Robert Koch Institute, urged caution, saying that many health authorities had not yet submitted their data from the weekend. “I will only be able to confirm this trend definitively on Wednesday,” he said. But he added he remained optimistic.

That would be good news for sure. Hopefully it's not just a fluke and they will really start curving downward. At least that puts the finish line in sight for them, and gives hope to us that maybe all this social distancing stuff pays off.

If they've actually peaked, this is fantastic news. The Worldmeter site shows a one day dip as today's totals aren't in. Also, Italy has seen previous drops only to see further rises:

might Covid-19 be the Christmas present North Korean President Kim promised Trump?

UK just basically ordered shelter in place for the whole country, after leaving schools open weeks after ours.

Closer to Xi attempting to get rid of Trump OR his 'Made in China 2025' political objective.
Kim Jon Crazy really doesn't have the scientific resources...
even though he's somewhere between a bat and a pangolin.

Didn't Britain intentionally allow people to get sick to proceed to "community immunity" or something like that? I thought the country's top doctors sanctioned this idea?

An interesting perspective on the mathematics of coronavirus spreading:

An intensive-care expert broke down just how contagious the coronavirus is, showing how one person going out can end up infecting 59,000

Absurd. The U.S. simply wasn't prepared for a pandemic of this magnitude. There is no question that the U.S. has the money and resources to develop testing kits. It just needs time.

There is more to the story on China's "generosity" than meets the eye:

    China’s Mask Mercantilism

And now you know the rest of the story.

That's not responsive to the point made. No one said they were more altruistic. The point was missed

The point was not missed. China only appears to be exhibiting leadership not because they have been on top of coronavirus (and exhibiting leadership), but because of a media blitz that is often deceptive. Giving back a fraction of supplies that were given to them does not put China at the top of the class for coronavirus response. It just makes western media sources out to be incredibly gullible and fearful (and slanted against President Trump). China will kick out any journalists in country that report anything negative about China, so the western media is often cowed into only repeating positive stories that China puts out about itself, and the blind hatred for Trump fuels the negative stories about the U.S. losing its leadership edge.

Just because there is a marketing campaign out there does not make it true.
