Like I told you yesterday (or perhaps it was Saturday) I hope you're right. I actually desperately hope you're right as my business has reduced to zero.

It's the anti-Trump drumbeat that I disagree with. China and Italy certainly didn't lock down because of that. Nor did NY, SF and Chicago.

And comparing what a flu did over the course of a year in 57/58 and what this has done over the course of 6 weeks in 2020 is apples and oranges, to me at least.

There was no internet in 1957 and precious little way for countries to share information with their own people much less with the world. So perhaps those would have been less than this had there been-aren't there 2 sides to the argument you keep making?

Anyway, I find these comparisons somewhat of a red herring when made today, especially when made vs a completely new viral strand.

Right - we aren't even going to approach H1N1 - I see ole Nate Silver is even putting in a lot more "ifs" now since the CA taking off like NY theory doesn't seem to be materializing and now he is going with the "southern pockets" possibly taking off like crazy to boost the numbers. I doubt he gets any of that to go along with the NY surge. A little daily anecdotal on those states but not much more. NY is still in the goldilocks area for this stuff weather wise while CA isn't any longer or most of the south. By early April the entire country will have the weather helping some.

U.S. surgeon general says coronavirus outbreak 'to get bad' this week

The U.S. surgeon general issued his starkest warning to date on Monday about the health risk posed by the coronavirus outbreak, warning Americans that the crisis was “going to get bad” this week........

“This week it’s going to get bad,” Adams told NBC’s “Today” show, saying there were more people out to see Washington’s famed annual cherry blossoms than there were blossoms. “This is how the spread is occurring. Everyone needs to be taking the right steps right now: stay home.”

Whenever I do that I get different results than you do. Where are you getting your numbers from?

I agree with some of that but as far as the conspiracy stuff I would have never believed that 4 western countries would have their intelligence connected people help facilitate a Russian Collusion hoax to try and take down a POTUS on anything they could hopefully find not pertaining to anything to do with the hoax. I mean Nixon's stuff was child's play compared to that crazy mess because the POTUS wasn't looking out for the globalists interests with trade pacts and immigration and all the rest.

The difference to me is my answer years ago knowing China and Korea already showed the stuff wasn't making a quick mutation to something deadlier that we had to have just found evidence that it might be doing that and there is no way they would crash the entire economy just to try and reset the global order but these people have shown if things don't affect them much in the long term they will go to any lengths almost to try and reset things back to where they were - right before Trump trashed their Pacific trade deal and the rest.

As the economy falters, Trump loses patience with doctors' orders on coronavirus
Taken together, Trump’s tweet and Pence's comment supply the strongest public signals we've seen that the administration is looking for ways to get people out in the world again to fire up the economy — perhaps much sooner than Dr. Fauci would like.
    ---------------------------------------------
Trump signaling that he'll act in his own self interest, as always.

The virus is bad but there is something far worse - the government won't be able to bail out everyone. There's not enough trees to make enough money. Banks are going to crumble under the weight of defaults. 100% defaults. When that happens, then us getting $1200 won't matter - the money will be worthless. Look at it this way, we have $20T in debt, a Fed balance sheet that is already at $4.5T, and worse, a global debt of $250T and only $10T in global bank capital. All is needed to collapse the global financial centers is 4% of the global businesses declaring bankruptcy. Almost every American will not be able to pay their debts. That doesn't include the $1 Quadrillion of derivatives. It'll make the financial crisis of 2008 look like child's play. In short, to save the hand, we are willing to cut off the head. I like the idea of propping up small businesses and people for 12 months but we have to do it carefully. The worse thing is to lose 4% of the population to the virus but lose 25% to the resulting fallout of the Greatest Depression.

Yep. mixed message is the worst thing & he’s done it all along. All the cost of shutting down with none of the benefits. It’s because he can’t think beyond the moment & he can’t see beyond himself.

This is the time for leadership. Donald Trump can't provide it. It reminds me of the way Bush unified the country after 9/11. Now, we can certainly criticize some of his subsequent actions, but he understood how to bring everybody together in a crisis. That's what we have desperately needed from the President, and Trump simply isn't up to the task.

Trump’s snarky comment regarding Romney testing positive says so much about trump and why he is not the type of potus we need right now.

38 percent jump in NY cases today, so we likely aren’t close to a significant drop there.
Basic math say that means 200-600 dead and likely 2-3k in the hospital. they are gonna need those additional beds, and it also means that spread out of NY. No way they keep 21k people contained, and that’s just whose been tested.

Exactly. Actions that are taken (& not taken)are always going to be questioned & are subject to partisan cheap shots, etc. But, his words should unify, inform, reassure & inspire & he failed miserably on what should be the EZ part. Our governor's speech was all of those things. Trump possesses next to 0 skills as a leader.
