Nope. I’ve not disliked a person for that reason. As a matter of fact I’m friendly with lots of people who don’t like each other and have to remind them not to involve me in their battles. I love people and when I go out I talk to everyone. My wife tells people I’ve never met a stranger. Sorry if you don’t believe I was joking. I know I was.

Now this isn’t a joke. Please carry on with your greater than thou I’m better than you and I know why you say and do everything thingy. If it gives you something to do and makes you happy, go for it. I’ll continue to joke about stuff because that’s what I’ve done since I was knee high to a grasshopper.

If I ever need a psychologist, I’ll PM you. But, I’d like to know beforehand your education and experience. By what you wrote about me, you’re pretty dang sure if yourself. (Hint,,, I know you’re wrong)

    Stay safe young lady.

Loss of sense of taste and smell seems to be precursor to other symptoms

Sudden Loss of Smell Could Indicate 'Hidden Carriers' of Coronavirus, Say UK Experts

Anyone experiencing a sudden loss of smell could be a "hidden carrier" of the coronavirus, even if they have no other symptoms, according to evidence compiled by leading rhinologists in the UK.

In South Korea, China, and Italy, about a third of patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 have also reported a loss of smell – known as anosmia or hyposmia – leading ear, nose, and throat experts in the UK have reported.

"In South Korea, where testing has been more widespread, 30 percent of patients testing positive have had anosmia as their major presenting symptom in otherwise mild cases," the president of the British Rhinological Society Professor, Clare Hopkins, and the president of the British Association of Otorhinolaryngology, professor Nirmal Kumar, said in a joint statement.

The professors said that many patients around the world who have tested positive for COVID-19 are presenting only the symptoms of loss of smell and taste – without the more commonly recognised symptoms of high fever and coughing.

"There have been a rapidly growing number of reports of a significant increase in the number of patients presenting with anosmia in the absence of other symptoms," the statement says.

Throughout my life I have heard millions of "expert" opinions along with those that support "expert" opinions with full loyalty. I lived through the US government "experts" claiming that eggs were heart attack giving killers, have seen child psychologists proclaim that if a 5 year old says the child care centre was doing Satanic rituals then they must be telling the truth..all of them across the USA suddenly were giving witchcraft and Satan teachings so the "experts" said (1980's). Jimmy Swaggart claimed to be a religious "expert as he was humping prostitutes at the same time "expertly" advising against sinning to his flock. "Experts" of the 1950's proclaimed marijuana as the Gateway to Hell....1960's "experts" called all war protestors Communist sympathizers. I could go on for days on what "experts" spew. Some are bold and show reality..most cannot afford to.
Hence the word fool was born to define not using ones God given ability to think and decide using all tools of life.
Experts are not without fault my friend and they too take self preservation to account. The simple fact you are so upset with my words pretty much says you are not comfortable with analyzing reality beyond an "experts" view of reality. I suggest that you expand beyond the box.

Intimigator, let's be clear. Experts are not perfect. And some experts are better than others. Individual experts will make mistakes. Whole groups can even make mistakes. But more often than not, when you have a consensus among experts, it's going to be right. What you're doing is akin to disregarding condoms because they occasionally fail or disregarding vaccines because they aren't foolproof. I'm not big on anti-intellectualism, my friend. I understand that this is killing your business. I'm sorry that is happening. But we need to take it seriously.

How can you call me anti intellectual? To accept that a professional will be honest and open minded is entirely wrong. Factors of profession, reputation and future opportunities all play in. I know why a few on here object to my comments, although denial will take hold with little thought of self analysis it's because they think they are so educated that they are "experts" and have the final word. Look around..nothing is set in stone. Not even "expert" opinion.

Whether you believe the "experts" or not, the information we're getting is coming through the access filter of a media that is desperate to make this situation as fearful and earth shattering as possible. People don't tune in as much when they don't feel that they need to hang on every word.

I am not upset at all, just dumbfounded that you believe that those that are qualified to comment on the issue have somehow joined in a worldwide conspiracy to advance a false narrative.

Just curious, so what's your prediction over the next few weeks? Be specific if you can, but you don't have to be too specific since no one knows the exact future.

I'm not calling you anti-intellectual. I'm saying that you're embracing anti-intellectualism in this case. You are disregarding the opinions of people who are experts. People who are versed and experienced in pandemics, infectious diseases, medicine, etc. I am educated. I am an expert in law. I am not an expert in infectious diseases. That's why I choose to defer to those who are.

I can tell you from having dealt with a number of people who were not educated in law but fancied themselves experts, people often overestimate their own abilities. And I don't just mean stupid/crazy people. I once had to deal with a very well educated scientist (and professor) who decided to represent himself in a lawsuit. It went extremely poorly for him because he didn't understand the nuances of the law. He lost the case purely on procedural grounds.

He wasn't stupid. I have no doubt that I could not have even held a conversation with the man on the nuances in his field of science. He simply overestimated his own abilities outside his area of expertise. I strive not to do that.

You don't have to go through the media. Many are speaking out. You can go straight to the source.

I predict that in 2 weeks the daily death count will decline. I am completely on board with the reality that boredom will set in for those passionately analyzing each piece of this virus and the headlines will revert to politics. Restaurants will open..life will slide back in. That I am 100 percent sure of. Human nature says the team mentality will revert to self survival.
Could I be wrong? Of course. Will I be? probably not. Keep in mind that some will work very hard to keep this on the big screen because its money and reputation. In 2017 the emergency was the flu and nobody could get funding for it so opportunity strikes now.

For the record, I do not discount anyones opinion although I am aware that is against the norm. I merely use their opinions as a piece of the whole and not as the only word.

Okay, but some opinions have to count for more than others. Dr. Fauci's opinion counts for a lot more than my crazy uncle's opinion (and even my crazy uncle has started taking the virus seriously lol).

Grouping is a human tendency as a means to show a united front. Yes experts do this in all avenues of life as it gives the appearance of credibility. Life has shown that those that dont join the team and voice an objection are banished from their expert status. This is fact and not a conspiratorial thought. Human nature is not infallible no matter what school one attended.

I agree and your response is on target. in the same respect your crazy uncle could very well be right. Identifying one as an expert would make me one one as my abilities to track hurricanes is clearly of expert status but I am not one. Just someones crazy uncle that knows more than he is given credit for.

Despite your disclaimer it didn't come across as a joke. It had ugly implications that were perceived as divisive insults and you had to have realized it because you tagged it with the J/k disclaimer.

"Better than you"? Not by a long shot I have attitudes of my own I struggle with. Continue to joke as you will with your long standing practices. But be aware there are many who are offended by "jokes" that promote divisiveness rather than build bridges of cooperation. Some things are not funny.

Please don't patronize me by calling me a "young lady." I am old and not in denial of that fact. I hope you and yours stay well, Homer.

That's not too unreasonable, and is pretty much the intent of those advocating for the lockdown. Perhaps you guys are really agreeing on more than you think? If the lockdown works as well as we hope, that'd be the ideal scenario. We'd end up with a similar number of deaths as a flu season, and life can slowly resume normally over the subsequent weeks.

With that said, I hope you can see why the lockdown was necessary. If it ends up killing a similar number as the flu even with a few weeks of lockdown, imagine the damage it could've done without it. Hopefully by next season, we'd have a vaccine or at least plenty of masks, ventilators, hydroxychloroquine, etc. that we won't have to resort to such drastic measures.

Also will have numerous recoveries without any of them realizing they actually had it, probably thought it was just the flu
