Want to bet - bragging rights that it stays that similar pattern? Unless you are blind they have. They are closing in on half the cases and their death rate plummeted when they started reporting positives daily by the thousands. That clearly points to them just amping up testing and people on the net said its a lot easier now to get a test there with your doctor referring you.

Nope the bet would be whether a pattern of clearly testing with the same pattern but it doesnt even have to be this anyway. If RIP is convinced I am a moron we can bet like with 96 on the flattening to reducing of things which is a good sign.

It's hard to predict, it just varies so much on testing strategy. Today, for example, LA and NYC is recommending NOT to widely test. This is due to testing shortages rather than best practice. It's almost unanimous that widespread testing is a cornerstone of management along with hand washing, mask wearing, and social distancing. Obviously testing doesn't decrease transmission by itself, but someone who tests positive is much more likely to practice the other 3 and the people around them will likely do the same.

On another note, we're also not practicing universal mask wearing due to shortages, which is quite a shame. This virus is primarily transmitted via droplets, and secondarily through contact with droplets that land on surfaces we touch. Universal mask wearing would significantly decrease both modes of transmission. Pence was bragging about 3M increasing production to 35M a month, that's great, but China is making 120+M a DAY and they're still facing shortages due to the numbers needed for universal mask wearing.

IMO # deaths per capita is a better estimate right now for prevalence. Mortality rate fluctuates too much with testing and the state of the healthcare system. I think the true mortality rate is likely in the 1-2% range in a healthcare system that's not overwhelmed. Once it's overwhelmed, however, you get another North Italy or Wuhan.

NYC is testing big time now and have been for a few days but you make good points. My opinion is when we finally have the highest daily death total in the US and then it keeps declining from that number we have passed the peak of cases in the U.S. no matter how many people they test after that to drive the total case numbers up.

Makes sense that the death rate is lower here right now. The virus is hitting a more diverse population spread across a larger region. Also and this is just speculation the strain there may be worse idk. I doubt the death rates here get anywhere close to Italy barring a complete disaster.

maybe it’s to find out what not to do. You’d think a guy with so much blood, suffering & misery on his hands would at least have the decency to STFU

Thank you so much. I guess there is no information on the course of cases that do not result in hospitalization or evidence of lung compromise?

We are not betting on life and death rates. The idea is to reduce the death rate by limiting the burden on the health care system. so, with good care, people who might otherwise die will not die.

Lemoyne-based law firm files lawsuit against Gov. Wolf's order

By ordering law firms to close their doors Thursday, Wolf deprived citizens of their right to counsel, lawyer William Costopoulos argued in court papers. Costopoulos' petition noted that the high court, in ordering the closure of state courts this week, creating several exceptions for emergency petitions involving custody, protection from abuse and other matters.

In an interview, Costopoulos also said the executive branch doesn’t have a right to meddle in the judicial.

“The Supreme Court regulates lawyers and the practice of law. The Constitution dictates the due process requirements. And the governor, though his intentions are well meaning in light of this pandemic, does not have the authority to usurp either the Supreme Court or the Constitution when it comes to the practice of law,” Costopoulos said.
    --------------------

My guess is the Courts there will just try and avoid ruling on this whether he has a good legal point or not.

I don't place the bets because it's not fair to the ones going against me. Rigging the game got boring sometime in the mid 1300s.
