My issue with these reports is they fuel panic. It's sorta like saying:
"100% of skydivers die. (if not using parachutes)"

I don't think that's an accurate comparison. The more fair comparison would be "X percent of car accidents will result in a fatality without using a seatbelt." Please see this and start using seatbelts. Just my opinion.

FYI, my wife was tested last Friday after having symptoms for days and then only because she is on an immunosuppressant drug (doing better but not recovered yet). We still don’t have the results back and don’t expect them until sometime next week. If she doesn’t have the results she can’t take her next round of drugs. I don’t think saying “the testing situation has improved greatly” adequately captures just how dire it was and how far it has to go.

We were wondering why the hell all these athletes are getting tested without even having symptoms? I mean I get the money thing, but for god's sake at least have some symptoms or direct exposure before just randomly testing people. Even then, they probably still shouldn't waste a test for a healthy athlete in their 20's/30's where the recovery will probably be like 99.9%.

Then in our hospital there's literally a guy in a negative pressure ICU in isolation, and 4 others that will probably have to go in isolation, 0 test results and they only even tried to submit 1. Nurses and Physicians don't even have masks, and forget about it for other hospital staff inside the hospital (who still have to travel the corridors and elevators).

Mexico will be the test case for doing practically nothing.

Mexico, former swine flu hub, tests nerves with coronavirus strategy

Mexican officials are dragging their feet on border closures and coronavirus containment measures, in what critics call a high risk strategy driven by bad memories of a shutdown a decade ago that deepened the country’s recession during the swine flu epidemic.

The United States and neighbors in Latin America have suspended flights, banned public gatherings and closed schools.

In Mexico City, however, tens of thousands of music fans rocked out to Guns and Roses at a festival at the weekend. President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador also went on tour, hugging surging crowds of supporters and kissing babies.
    __________
Mexico's first case was Feb 28th, they now are up to 118. They are now 19 days from first case, numbers should be doubling from here on out.

31 more deaths since I posted that. If the numbers hold tomorrow we should see 11,000-12,500.

Sitting on their hands. Mexico could see a greater infection slope than that of Spain’s this time next week.

Bankers quarantined after Mexico hosts convention despite coronavirus threat

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Many of Mexico’s top banking and financial brass are under quarantine or having to work from home after having attended an annual industry bash at a Pacific getaway last week where at least one participant later tested positive for coronavirus.

In contrast to much of Latin America, Mexico’s government has so far taken a hands-off approach to tackling the fast-spreading virus, letting large-scale events go ahead, including the swanky banking conference in the beach resort of Acapulco and a music festival in Mexico City.

Then a high-ranking official at Mexico’s central bank tested positive after participating in the convention, which was also attended by the president, finance minister and hundreds of senior bankers.
