The latest global number is up 10,000 cases and 900 deaths Coronavirus Update (Live): 218,159 Cases and 8,937 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer
The concerning aspect of the poll to me is the likelihood of societal commitment to isolation / distancing. If public opinion trends against scientific opinion / suggestions - things could get interesting. America's individualism culture is less suited than most to these sacrifices. We're clearly willing to make them - but the threat/reason has to be painfully in our face. [insert Churchill's quote about America doing what's right]
US numbers United States Coronavirus: 9,028 Cases and 150 Deaths - Worldometer Something to look at in the numbers Active infected cases compared to closed cases. 8758/256 There is a huge disparity. This tells me there is alot of unresolved sickness in the country and the Closed case recovered to death ratio is 41/59%
Great point. I was never really aware of this until I dated one Taiwanese girl and ended up marrying another. Americans tend to embody a much different sense of independence than folks from other cultures. As I type this, there are national news reports of crowded beaches in Clearwater. It's shocking.
It wasn't 2 days, it was barely 24 hours. If someone doesn't want to see what another poster writes then the easiest thing to do is put them on ignore. Of course, you can't do that with moderators, that's grounds for being banned.
Almost half of the new cases reported in the US today were from the state of New York but they aren't having deaths skyrocketing like some of those European countries.
The cases are largely new, only 1 person has officially recovered to now. See where we are in 2 weeks. United States Coronavirus: 9,236 Cases and 150 Deaths - Worldometer
We have had 41 deaths today, 23 yesterday, 18 the day before that, 11 the day before that, and 8 the 2 days before that. We are already at over 5x the deaths from Saturday and it is Wednesday. How exactly is that not skyrocketing?

Let's care for each other and stay focused on safety of those most vunerable. *copied from a friend*
There are many naive out there but we are crashing things in the western world for something that will kill less people here than the Swine Flu did in the US and be literally dwarfed by the standard flu deaths we get each year. Auto accident deaths each year will dwarf this also.
