No, but ask why so many epidemics since 1918 started in China. What in the world are they doing not even 3rd world countries are doing?

No idea. Could be their massive population increasing the likelihood of viral mutation, lack of government transparency, and involvement in international commerce allowing for cross border transmission (which is infrequent in 3D world countries) if I had to guess.

I rarely watch news channels but do at times (elections, disasters, etc). I've been watching them a lot lately and when one has a commercial I tend to change channels to another one. I used to watch Fox back at the beginning because it was different and not as extreme. The other night after 10pm I flipped on Fox to see if there was any Covid-19 information and I swear it seemed like a Trump infomercial broke out. They were basically talking about what an idiot Joe Biden was and what a great job Trump had done but no real information about what was going on nationally with the virus. And I was surprised when one of the people on the panel still took the position that it isn't nearly as dangerous as the flu and the media is overreacting simply to hurt Trump politically.

I realize that Fox has become a playground for more and more extreme personalities that try to gain fame and attention based on saying things that are sometimes quite ridiculous but . . . Geez us . . . what a waste of time that was. I was once a Reagan Republican but that was back when Republicans were more moderate and the Democrats were the radicals. My how times have shifted. Maybe it's just a cyclical thing.

Our company was just contacted yesterday regarding interest in running clinical trials for no less than a dozen different trials for vaccine and treatments. From Phase 1 to Phase 3. Things are moving quick and that's good.

Since "Chinese" is not a race, how can it be racist? If he would have called it the "oriental virus", that could be considered racist.

Part of the answer is due to they large population they are very close to their food source which allows for easier cross species exposure. That's where most of the "new" strains come from.

That they do. Nevertheless, the sudden about face was brought up several times on here by a number of folk--self included--even before these videos were created. Trump clearly played down the threat, calling it a democratic hoax and that it was all under control etc...and Fox was providing terrible coverage, basically mimicking him--heck even Tucker Carlson of all people called them out.. It was bad enough that Fox news execs had to send a memo about the coverage to their hosts. .

I don't watch cable or network news. One can be informed without them. But I do follow what goes on.They all suck. Fox is the worst. By a wide margin.

That's completely counter to all the data sets thus far... bears watching.

I remember in one of Heinlein's later books(maybe Friday?) He said the next plague would come from China.

I am pondering that and then Vonneguts Slaughterhouse 5 where the aliens said we had 5 sexes each neccessary for reproduction.

Two smart guys, atleast one was a little bit crazy.

Watching cnbc earlier and they had a guest state that data out of SK shows the largest demographic carriers are 20-30 yr olds. If true the pics over the weekend of springbreakers out and about does not bode well for the number of cases.

I don't think we thought they were less susceptible but seemed to exhibit more mild symptoms. My son got the flu along with me last year. I have the exact flu shot and he didn't and all he got was a cold. The question that needs to be asked is how many of them have underlying health issues.

Other 3rd world countries have "outdoor meat-markets"? But maybe not the same taste for exotic animals at these markets as the Chinese? Seems like they are playing with fire. I was not aware this was also the source of the previous SARS outbreak (mostly because that one never really concerned me, as it's spread never reached the same level).

There used to be an outdoor meat market in Miami. I think it was called Monty Traner’s. Apologize if I misspelled.
