I like this site too: Coronavirus Update (Live): 197,188 Cases and 7,949 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer
Not really from what some people have put out there. Most will say we dont know yet but most things with its spread is showing it should act that way.
Yes, it is. Maria van Kerkhove, an infectious-disease expert with the World Health Organization, said at a press conference on March 5 that "we have no reason to believe that this virus would behave differently in different temperatures." It's summer in Australia, and the coronavirus is circulating there — evidence that warm weather won't necessarily curtail the outbreak
Deserves it’s own thread, but Trump has created a “religion”. Stole that from a different poster, but the posters that are in denial are not basing their thoughts on logic. Faith and hope (two good aspects of religion) are the only thing that can justify the stances of certain of our brethren / fellow posters.
That one is ahead of the Hopkins site generally and when you click on the USA link it gives nice visual and metric detail
Australia: 375 cases. 1 critical. It really isn't circulating there like it is in cooler climates. You can get the flu in the summer also, but the flu does not "circulate" during the summer. A overwhelming majority are between the 30 and 50 N. parallels.
We are all living on faith and hope here. I mean even the worst case scenarios are still based on the unknown. I don't see why faith and hope hurt anyone at a time like this. Medical professionals are all over the map on local levels. My dad has two doctors at Duke. One for his respiratory/pulmonary hypertension. And a heart specialist. He is 71, and drove to Florida today with both of their blessing. Duke is not some backwoods hospital with a bad rep. They are highly touted professionals in their specialties. They basically told him, he is not in imminent danger by traveling as long as he practices the same social distancing there as he does at home. Meanwhile I have a staff member with shingles being told by a local doc to not leave her house for 2 weeks. My point is, we only have so many absolutes here so far.
The Australian summer has an average temperature of 74 degrees? Nice!! Wonder how the Chinese virus does in temps in high 80s- low 90s and humidity at 175%!!
Also it was out of the summer when it got a foothold there. Anybody can see with the tropic weather countries heat affects the spread of this stuff. Malaysia is about the only country like that with a foothold and it isn't exploding there the same as the cooler climates in parts of Europe etc.
You are a broken record. Everything you say, the opposite happens. Warm temp areas are 3-4 weeks behinds Italy's time line. Their numbers are multiplying.
Add Kevin Durant and 3 teammates to the list of NBA guys with it. Durant among four Nets to test positive for virus
You have no idea if this is true yet. It may be, but you don't know that yet. Look at the maps. Between 30 and 50 N Parallel.
Small world, Mrs. GK lived in San Mateo for years when she worked in SF. Gator Nation is truly everywhere.
Which brings me back to the original point: it’s speculation. You are making an assumption based on a single observation. That is not causation.
I have been watching this every day Coronavirus Update (Live): 197,766 Cases and 7,954 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer It is spreading from cold to warm. Spreading like water on the floor.
David Lat is a 44 year old marathon runner and publisher of the blog Above the Law (as well as a former assistant US Attorney). He’s COVID19 positive. See this thread on how it has impacted him.
