    Why so much excitement over a lack of testing. If you are sick stay home if not go about your business.....Problem solved. Testing is not a cure. We don't have a cure.

    So far the curves are following a similar pattern with the US and some western European countries that have way more lockdown restrictions than us.

    I happen to agree with you. We need substantial manufacturing ability of essential items in our country.

    You can be infected with COVID-19 for a week to 10 days and be asymptomatic, but still be contagious. This means you can feel 100%, be a carrier of the disease, and spread it without knowing it.

    The problem with lack of available tests is people who may have been infected, but not travelled outside the country, cannot be tested. Because under current standards, they don't meet testing criteria. This means there could be literally thousands of people COVID-19 positive who came in contact with someone who came in contact of an infected person, and we don't know about these positive cases.

    If you look at what happened in Italy, they went about their business thinking this was nothing more than a different strange of common flu. A few weeks later, over 1,800 deaths and thousands infected. They hope is the last couple of days are the peak, and the tide will finally start to turn.

    We have no idea what our curve looks like because we aren't testing at nearly the degree they are still.

    People with clear symptoms of it are mostly getting tested now in Western Europe and the U.S.

    We aren't just going to catch up with them per capita due to more testing.

    If you are under 50, you may show no symptoms, if you are under 30 even less. The non symptomatic carriers are the biggest concern.
    The testing helps us figure out a better percentage to make decisions by.

    I think we may be overreacting, but testing will help us figure that out.

    More testing may actually calm fears if the numbers are lower than we fear.

    Whether a person has symptoms or not, they can be spreading the disease. So if one was exposed to a carrier they should not just “go about their business”, they should certainly quarantine. However, due to the disgraceful lack of testing we literally still have no idea. People have no idea where the exposure is. In many cases the first indications are where people start dying, but as we saw in other places that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

    Healthcare workers or any families of healthcare workers should rightly be pissed off about this.

    It’s hard to believe people still don’t get what has been explained over and over again for weeks. Some folks are just being deliberately obtuse.

    Still not true. On Friday, the county healthcare system in Mecklenburg County had 3 tests total for the entire county with a promise that they could get 3 more if they used their tests up. A lot of areas are still using ridiculous criteria to dole out their tests because they have nowhere near enough.

    We have had no tests available. You can’t possibly still deny that. It hasn’t been a choice to not test, we just didn’t have any because the administration did not take this seriously for weeks hoping it would just magically go away.

    Speaking of tone-deaf politicians. Here's one doing Florida ... not so proud.
    Florida Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp complains about "destroyed" Vail vacation due to coronavirus

    3 points--

    1. Thought a guy on NBC put it quite well on Sunday Today Show---half the country doesnt take it serious, the other half is in full blown panic;

    2. Pretty sure this bugger been here for several months already (didnt just show up on March, upon being summoned by global panic);

    3. The increase in reported cases reflects the numbers of tests showing positive, since we're now testing everybody for it(and can ID it)--NOT the spread rate.

    Jmho/fwiw.
