The poster was talking about "next time around" - or a 2nd wave.

Clearly we won't have a vaccine this spring / summer - but I think it's reasonable to believe we'll have one ready by next "flu season". That's my hope. We don't need a 2nd wave like 1919.

That’s how the hospital administered my wife’s test yesterday. They don’t want anyone that even potentially has it to walk inside the hospital unless they’re going to be treated for a confirmed case.

I said on this forum earlier that the international community needs to come together and place sanctions on China if they don’t outlaw wet markets and TCM and enforce it. The world shouldn’t suffer for their stupidity.

About a third of my town is Asian. Sadly the School Superintendent has to issue a notice saying that harassing other students for their race is unacceptable. People can just be mean.

That is the question I've been pondering....looks like our 3 month period just started though.

Yep, like hockey, we are in the middle of the 1st period. 2nd period will be the darkest and 3rd we will see the light at the end of the tunnel. Lets hope there isn't an OT shootout.

Chinese wet markets are open air markets with meat/blood/viscera exposed to the open air. This isn’t unique to China but they openly sell wild and exotic animals, both for food consumption and Traditional Chinese Medicine. This often puts people in contact with these zoonotic diseases like Coronavirus. It also causes a demand-side need for many different endangered animals like the rare white giraffes that were just poached in Africa last week.

It won’t work to tackle China alone but the world can band together to pressure them to make real change.

Does anyone here really think the Chinese have had 80,824 cases with 65,569 recoveries and only 3189 deaths?
Especially when Italy has already had 21,157 cases, with only 1,966 recoveries and half the deaths already (1,441).
Radio free Asia said witnesses inside China saw them burning bodies a month or more back to hide their problem.
I'm thinking they've had deaths in the 10's of thousands already.
    They're the masters of misinformation.

It’s possible. One thing people aren’t really focusing on is that China segregated Coronavirus cases from the rest of their healthcare system. This is something Italy is not doing, likely not even capable of doing.

Since the Chinese can't protect their own doctors from dying they didn't likely protect their own people.
And those were the same doctors they locked up from the start for telling people there was a problem.
The numbers infected are too high not to associate a greater number of deaths.

It is what they choose to hear. Data may not support what they hear, but nobody challenges the data.

Does it make sense to develop any possible scenario via extrapolation of data reported by the Chinese government? The same government that now claims the Wuhan virus was deployed in that city by the US military?

I agree. Soon though the world totals will pass that reported by China so we will have fresh data.

The Chinese military commanders should be court-martialed if they let the US Army that far into the country without being detected.
