Coronavirus in the United States - news and thoughts

FYI, coronavirus is not a type of influenza.

Fortunately, while highly contagious, it sounds like Coronavirus doesn’t spread much via people not showing symptoms which is one reason it hasn’t spread faster than it has. This is quite different from influenza which will commonly spread before people show symptoms making it impossible to quarantine.

 

Your common sense wasn't effective enough to realize that I mentioned I'm an aerospace engineer to point out that I'm not qualified to make a judgement in epidemiology. I pointed out that unless you have a PhD you aren't either. We're both laymen here with regard to this pandemic. The fallacy is you think you can apply some good ole common sense to this and your conclusions are better than ALL the experts. Not going to waste time arguing with you anymore about this. I've met some google doctors before and its a waste of time to argue with them. You go ahead and think you're schooling me. Why the hell would I listen to you before I listen to one of our national experts? Why would anyone?

But I am smart enough to realize that you figured one is supposed to be impressed with your chosen profession. You could have left that out and simply said you weren't qualified to make a judgement in anything. Remember, you need an expert to determine if it is 3 burritos and beer or something much more heinous. Are you getting my point?

I will add to your expert comments with this good one. 5 months ago my wife had issues similar to what dengue offers and they are far worse than any flu bug! Far worse! I have had it twice and it is painful and weakening like one cannot properly describe. Anyway, the Asian thing is to take regular drinks of a multivitamin powder mixed with water and Panadol to keep the fever down. I was giving my wife Tylenol. So the "expert" doctor (of which I am not as expert) told my wife to STOP! Stop taking that Tylenol as it will do bad things to you! Stop now! But here is the kicker....Panadol and Tylenol are the exact same medicine. Exact! So, do I still trust the "expert"? You would.

Years ago, my Maldivian wife would notice our son running a fever, he was around 2 years old, and out of concern she would take him to the hospital and have him seen. Every single time, she would come back with Panadol and a fever reducer and even had blood work done. The doctors (experts) prescribed this. After the 3rd time I asked my wife if she noticed that he was putting his hands in his mouth constantly and if she checked for new teeth coming in. She said the doctors thought he was just dehydrated. So I said...check his gums and guess what? He had been teething the entire time. So once again..do I trust the "experts"?

I was a Weather Forecaster in the Air Force back in the 80's and studied well but my career ended and I went another direction learning new skills like Engineering. However, I have predicted the last 6 or so landfalls of hurricanes correctly by going against the "experts" and using simple common sense use of pressure systems and lower level wind reports north and northwest of the storm and 2 days ahead of the path along with land elevations for intensity. Next time there is a NOAA prediction on landfall then send me a message and once it gets within 500 miles of the "experts" landfall then I will tell you where it will actually go. It's actually rather simple as I use common sense and no drama. The "experts" have more to worry about including politics.

Let me add one more fun topic about my abilities versus the "experts". I started playing blackjack occasionally about 20 years ago and played like the "experts" said I should. I lost lots of money but I was a good player according to the "experts". Then I began looking at other players and their winning/losing hands and also the dealers and figured out that the "experts" weren't so "expert" after all. So I started a new type of playing that I call Dirty Blackjack and it takes everything the "experts" say you should do and turns it around. Fact is they are playing like the casinos want you to play. My theory is to allow the dealer to lose every hand and it works. It works so well that I average about $2500.00 in winnings (I bring a maximum of 400.00 every time I go to play) each time I sit at the tables. At a casino in Turks and Caicos I was at a table winning big time and 3 guys from Texas sat down and watched me play then they bought in and played exactly like I was. They were playing thousand dollar hands and more and I am guessing walked out with more than 20 grand. So..do I trust the "experts"? I don't think so.

This brings me back to the coronavirus....listen to everyone but always look at the trending and evidence as it is telling us what it is doing and what it will do. The "experts" are under pressure to do something and it is very political so they are not allowed to say what I say as it isn't technical enough. Have a great day and try what I say...you will then see what I mean. Life offers so many examples of people overthinking in an attempt to provide solutions but if one simply looks at the actions then it becomes obvious. Oh..why you so angry?

Saw this yesterday. It's all about perception and what administration "feels" is logical, not what actual experts think is the best course of action.

Then again, what would the CDC know about a virus? Just another liberal deep state institution spreading fear.

Sweet! Now we have a segment of the population downright overjoyed at the prospect of Americans dying from covid 19!

 

Reminds me of the clown who has built his political career exploiting the deaths of people killed by undocumented immigrants. I wouldn't be surprised to see Trump displaying family members of the victims once he starts campaigning for reelection in earnest not unlike he did in 2015 and 2016 and continued doing to a lesser extent after he was elected.

I agree people shouldn't have too much of an over-reliance on what the "experts" are initially saying. My view on this looking at what we have so far is I would be pretty cautious if I was over 60 (especially with certain medical issues) but since I am under 60 and in good health now I am not really worried about this stuff as it applies to me specifically

 

The CDC is one of the more deeply entrenched institutions of the deep state. Trump's spidey senses told him this when he cut their funding and redirected it to the wall.

Clearly we have a stable genius that is able to parse the CDC's deep state shenanigans and give the American people the distilled truth. It was reported that in response to the president's clarifying statements, older Americans and those that were immunocompromised, were able to take part in social events and other group activities that they were previously advised to avoid. Many older supporters of the president were grateful that they didn't need to worry in dread during the so-called 14 day incubation period.
