Of course, you knew it would be all Trump’s fault.

I know several people here in Colorado that have had a flu-like illness in the last couple of weeks with symptoms that sound disturbingly like coronavirus. They had fever and cough and felt better and went back to work but wanted to get a coronavirus test just to make sure. Can't. They are only giving those tests to people that meet certain criteria like travelling to Italy, China, etc. or have been in the company of someone known to have the virus. The state of Colorado is telling everyone that they are processing 160 test kits a day. They just started doing this a couple of days ago. Here's the kicker, they can only test 80 people a day because each person will need two test kits. Four people have been found to be infected Incredible to think that Colorado is ahead of most states with this lame situation.

South Korea is processing 10,000 test a day. Yes it is a national scandal and guess who's big fat orange face is all over it. It sinks in, even for Trumpies if they're trying to get a test and can't qualify, what a fiasco this is so they go to work and go about their lives. Trump and his toadies have screwed the pooch and as this spreads everybody with a functioning brain is going to know it.

Why US coronavirus testing lags so far behind other countries'

A Warning From a Scientist Who Saw the Coronavirus Coming
A Warning From a Scientist Who Saw the Coronavirus Coming

Peter Daszak is a zoologist who works in China and runs the EcoHealth Alliance, an organization that studies the connections between human and wildlife health. So coronaviruses, like the new one that’s spreading right now, are one of his areas of expertise. A few years back, Daszak was working with the World Health Organization, plotting out what the next global pandemic could look like, when he and some other scientists came up with the idea of “Disease X.” Disease X would hit this epidemiological sweet spot: It would transmit easily from person to person, and it would be deadly, but not too deadly. Even though scientists like him knew this sort of virus was coming, the world didn’t get ready, not soon enough. And Daszak says that even when this outbreak is contained, it won’t be the last one. We’re going to get bigger pandemics, and they’re going to happen more often. But if we pay close attention to what’s happening right now, next time could be different.

7,769,079,464. That is the world population as of today.

So, this virus has been highlighted for a few weeks now and the following facts seem to be consistent:

-In China the rate of new infections is going down but interesting enough is that the only place hit hard is Wuhan with the rest of the country barely having any effects.

-the CDC has estimated (based on weekly influenza surveillance data) that at least 12,000 people have died from influenza (normal flu) between Oct. 1, 2019 through Feb. 1, 2020 versus 3,522 worldwide due to Coronavirus.

-The flu like systems appear to be minor in most cases unless you are elderly and/or have underlying conditions with weakened immune system. Comparatively both the regular flu and Coronavirus affect a very small percentage of elderly with respiratory infections and that seems to be the cause of death.

The panic doesn't seem to match the reality regarding the cause and effect of the actual "illness" as it is very short term along with the amount of deaths and who it affects. By all counts, this seems rather tame and normal from a flu standpoint. It is interesting to note that NO kids have died. That the death rate is highest among the elderly and drops to nearly non existent numbers from 49 years old and lower says something about what it actually does during the infected time.

My point is that if the regular flu is transmitted and causes the same issues and deaths resulting from the same respiratory complications that are mostly specific to the elderly then what is the drama about? With both flu issues it is clear that probably millions more have had it or will have it without having any crazy issues other than the dry cough and short term fever. The whole thing seems weird to the point that one must question the extreme measures. I get the pandemic thing but the flu is transmitted the same way when people travel etc. So what is it about this virus that we aren't being told about? Something just doesn't make sense on this.

The biggest difference between the covid-19 strain of the coronavirus and seasonal influenza is that there is a relatively effective vaccine for the latter (adding the caveat that the effectiveness of the vaccine varies from year to year) while there is no vaccine for the former and there will most likely not be one for at least year.

Trump wants to keep the people in California -- Mostly Americans -- on the cruise ship because he doesn't want "the numbers" to go up.

"[My experts] would like to have the people come off. I’d rather have the people stay, but I’d go with them. I told them to make the final decision. I would rather—because I like the numbers being where they are. I don’t need to have the numbers double because of one ship that wasn’t our fault."

Trump: Keep ’em on the ship. I don't want our coronavirus numbers to go up.

Two deaths in Florida. Santa Rosa county and fort Myers area. Two cases in Broward. The numbers are still very small, but it seems it can show up anywhere

Yep, the way this is being hyped, most of china should be infected and millions dead by now. Anytime something is this frenzied, it should raise suspicions at least a little bit as there are millions of deaths each year from a myriad of ailments. This is just one example you hear absolutely nothing about. Pneumonia

Also, the effects generated by Covid-19 are rather tiny compared with seasonal flu symptoms.

One of the Florida deaths, I hear, didn't even know they had it until after she was dead. Thanks Florida, for ignoring the national guidelines for test ....

Agreed. I like to see the trending on things before I step in with opinions and this trending just seems petty when doing comparisons or as you mentioned pneumonia. My skeptical side say's that somebody isn't telling us everything about this and it's origins. It is being blown out of proportions massively if just looking at the available data.

Do you see the US government being willing to do what China has done to prevent the spread of infection? Do you see Americans as willing to put up with what China has done to prevent the spread of infection?

That's the elephant in the room. With enough frenzy by the media, a scared population and a more than willing govt, will do just that.

He should be impeached for how he is handling this crisis. This statement was disgusting. Not a chirp from his supporters.

Just a reminder, the Covid numbers are all in addition to the usual seasonal illness numbers and lightening strikes.
