Have a large trade show in Vegas scheduled for March 30 - Apr 1. Show is still scheduled as planned, but some bigger vendors have already pulled out and established a no travel policy through April 30. If more and more people cancel, and if there is a case in Vegas, more and more will, the entire show will likely be cancelled. So far, only case in Nevada is Reno.

Why am I having thoughts of someone yelling fire in the movie theater? I'm not saying that I know that it is, I'm just wondering if this is similar. Time will tell us whether or not. Markets hate uncertainty, and they sure have been showing it lately. As a side note, this is why we need a CIC who does not consistently lie. Just sayin'.

Looking at the bright side, all of the emphasis on hand washing, cleaning contact surfaces, covering your month when coughing/sneezing, etc., could help reduce other colds and flus.

Obama didn't even declare an emergency until about a 1,000 confirmed cases of that one virus and it appears it was at least as deadly if not more deadly than coronavirus.

What’s more maddening is he will see it pointed out that he’s wrong but he not only won’t admit it, he will continue to spread the same misinformation elsewhere. Fantasy land.

You know this was debunked when posted last week and yet still have the stones to post this?

Here is the actual press release that October of 2009 CNN article references...

    It starts with ...

On April 26, 2009, the Secretary of Health and Human Services (the "Secretary") first declared a public health emergency under section 319 of the Public Health Service Act,42 U.S.C. 247d, in response to the 2009 H1N1 influenza virus. The Secretary has renewed that declaration twice, on July 24,2009, and October 1, 2009. In addition, by rapidly identifying the virus, implementing public health measures, providing guidance for health professionals and the general public, and developing an effective vaccine, we have taken proactive steps to reduce the impact of the pandemic and protect the health of our citizens. As a Nation, we have prepared at all levels of government, and as individuals and communities, taking unprecedented steps to counter the emerging pandemic. Nevertheless, the 2009 H1N1 pandemic continues to evolve. The rates of illness continue to rise rapidly within many communities across the Nation, and the potential exists for the pandemic to overburden health care resources in some localities. Thus, in recognition of the continuing progression of the pandemic, and in further preparation as a Nation, we are taking additional steps to facilitate our response.

So you see ... a "Public Health Emergency" was declared 6 months before that CNN article was written ...

Declaration of a National Emergency with Respect to the 2009 H1N1 Influenza Pandemic

Well, then, technically he is right. If Obama has just issued the third declaration first. All of this could have been avoided.

The bottom line is the emergency declared didn't reach the same level until after it was all over the place. Snopes and Politifact are just spin masters for the left.

There are definitely some half-truths to be found in Gator Fever's claims. To say "Obama didn't declare an emergency until October" is false, but what is half-Truthful about it is that the original emergency was a "Public Health Emergency" declared in April when there were just a few cases in the US. It was upgraded to a "National Emergency" in October ...

But really, the key thing to recall, and it's mentioned in the link Fever supplied, is that we were on his like flies on shit and had a massive amount of vaccinations waiting at this point. This time we were caught with our pants down.

So which do you perfer, a president who waits 6 months to upgrade a "public health emergency" to a "national emergency", but has a ton vaccines at the ready?

Or a president who jumps right to national emergency, but who's handling of the emergency leads you to believe he can't find his own ass with both hands?

(Sad thing is, I already know which one you are going to choose.)
