The same exact thing went through my head when I read Aging’s post earlier. The only difference between us is that i chose not to subject anyone else to that. :ninja2:

A prime example of why so many Americans support Donald Trump. They read tweets with absolutely no factual basis masquerading as news from Trump's supporters in the media and believe what they read. Yes there is a real problem with fake news, only the source isn't the MSM, it's Donald Trump's propaganda machine.

And once again, the Obama Administration never referred to the H1N1 flu as a hoax. They took it seriously as the health threat that it represented, not as a punchline at a pep rally.

It amazes me that people are stupid enough to take trump's tweet at face value. They know he is a serial liar but they believe him. Really don't understand that at all.

    On CNBC live. 7:55am

An ER doc who is a regular guest says to expect by the next week or 2. 1000's of reported cases.

He says testing is under diagnosed because the lack of available testing right now.

Says do not believe the reassurance from the govt.

expect a .1 to .4% mortality rate by the end of the year. Double the flu.

He thinks there are 1000's of un diagnosed cases because of lack of tests coming out of the CDC.

CDC sent out a faulty test and they are just now catching up.

Says he was just in the ER before coming to the show. That there are 100's of patients in the ER that show symptoms and they can't test locally yet. Still need to send tests off to fed labs.

The lack of test kits and the under diagnosing was a topic on NPR this morning.

I would also add that it's not just lack of test kits but also because the symptoms of the coronavirus are similar to the symptoms of the seasonal flu and even the common cold and that infected individuals with mild symptoms may never be tested although they can still transmit the disease.

McKay Coppins’ cover piece in this month’s Atlantic covers the phenomenon. He immersed himself in that media environment, and said that even he began doubting things he had just seen on TV during the impeachment trial. It’s very powerful. When you were in the media environment, you lose touch with reality

The same source who said there was 15 cases and he expected it to be "close to zero in a few days" ....

"I don’t think it’s going to come to that, especially with the fact that we’re going down, not up,” he said. “We’re going very substantially down, not up.”

“The 15, within a couple of days, is going to be down to close to zero. That’s a pretty good job we’ve done.”

Good thing the Executive Branch raided the CDC’s budget last year to pay for part of a wall. I’m sure it’s an impermeable barrier protecting us from all kinds of maladies.

It does. It has a mesh screen stapled to the outside to keep viruses out.

Better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are an idiot than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Big whoop. The Pandemic of 2009 killed nearly 600,000 globally and 1,000 Americans by the end of 6 months. in the year after initial outbreak, more than 12,000 dead just in the US alone. I don't remember a panic of any kind. This is a flu, that's all. You want to get more alarmed, go back and read SARS (10% mortality rate) or MERS (35% mortality rate). Imagine if either of those jumped - SARS burned itself out before it could spread and MERS so far hasn't left the Middle East.

And the global health chief of the UN came out a moment ago and said the panic is worse than the virus.

Coronavirus is a deadly threat — but fear and panic are more dangerous, global health chief says

“Stigma, to be honest, is more dangerous than the virus itself. Fear and panic are dangerous,” World Health Organization director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. “It’s fine to be concerned and worried, but let’s calm down and do the right things.”

EDIT: I say fear and panic are worse because I swear things got a bit chippy at the local CostCo yesterday...over bottled water. Dumbasses. We have a Pur water filter that filters out 400 gallons of tap water per filter and we have 5 extra filters. Buy a filter jug, just as effective and you aren't polluting the environment with a 100 plastic bottles.
