Forgot to mention....just had a delicious Haas avocado as a snack. Picked it up from Perrine's Produce here last Friday. No longer 5 for a dollar - 79 cents ea. now - but worth it. Just scooped it right out of the half shells. I have one more I will save for tomorrow. Dang that thing hit just the right spot! :)

thanks I’m in Gainesville believe it or not. I will look for that product. Yes, running real hot water over it feels good, but never knew if it did any good or harm. But it felt good—actually somewhat ticklish. I will keep doing it.

Tonight making leftover chicken into pesto, sundried tomato, penne and chicken.

6 games in and the visiting team has won every game. So much for home field advantage.

    Are both teams chokers?

Tonight we also are working on finishing up leftovers--it's the last of the pot of spaghetti sauce and fresh Caesar salad--

The ice cold longnecks are ready, set, go for Game 7--

Good point Lurk--I know the ultra big screens inside the ballparks are for the fans but this ol'fan grows tired of seeing the players walking around watching replays of themselves rather than keeping their heads in the game--

Tonight is my younger (24) son's birthday so we are taking him and a few of his friends out for dinner.

Tomorrow I will be smoking a brisket flat. Only three folks to cook for and too many things to do to smoke a whole brisket. Got to be careful with moisture so I will add some beef broth when I wrap it up.

Tonight it’ll be 1” thick center cut pork chops on the grill (Pat’s on the last two turns), baked potatoes, fresh steamed green cabbage, and yellow squash and vidalia onions—

    Jalapeño cornbread on the side—

Cooler here today but the ice cold longnecks are a must with the grill—

Well, we finally had our first taste of fall here today, as was posted by Mr. 74. Yesterday we were at 90 for a high - and today I think we reached 73.

On the chow front...I finally cooked my Poblano last night. Just cleaned it, softened it in the oven, then added a colby/jack cheese combo, cooked it some more and that was it. Very good, so I bought more Poblanos today and will go at it again this weekend. Eventually I will add some other stuffing ingredients like rice, shrooms, meat, etc.

Had a busy day today doing lots of misc stuff including picking up provisions for Mom. On the way to her place I stopped at Taco Bell to get her some tacos, per her request. I went inside and when placing the order they asked for a name. I said "Bazza...B A Z Z A." They guy at the counter said "Very cool name." Then I heard my name being repeated back in the kitchen by a couple of workers. I didn't expect that but thought it was funny and tells you something about the fast food folks...always looking for a laugh....even the smallest of things. Then I asked for the guy at the counter's name and he said Sean. I asked for the spelling and he said "SEAN." He said it was the worst of the "Sean/Shawn/Shaun's" and I replied "Are you kidding me? That's how 0-0-7 spells it!" He wasn't sure who 'that' 0-0-7 was so I told him to Google it when he got home and he'd be stoked. I also got a Dew Baja Blast for Mom - a large size. Wasn't a request but gotta get a special drink for her - or I would be remiss in my responsibilities and duty. ;)

She gave me some old photos including one of me and my 3 brothers from back in '83 when they re-located to NSB from Oak Hill and we all came to help with the move. Will post at some point. 36 years but almost seems like yesterday.

Life is good in Gator Nation! :)

Third cool morning in a row here—39* at 5am.

Kayla, Tim, and Magnolia Grace are down for the weekend—it’s been a great visit!

Today we will have Beef Plate Ribs on the Egg over cherry wood smoke—sides are plentiful for this meal, fresh cream 40’s & butter beans, yellow squash and vidalia onions, Ms. Jan’s homemade Mac and Cheese, deviled eggs, and homemade peach cobbler for desert—

Beautiful crisp day to sit outside and enjoy an ice cold longneck or two—

The house is smelling good from a big pot of hamburger (half ground chuck/half venison burger) vegetable soup--it'll be topped with a blended fine shredded three cheese--cut up jalapenos and sour cream for those that want that--

    Jalapeno cornbread on the side--

A few ice cold longnecks on the back porch in front of this will be great--

I had a "hankering" tonight for hot dogs, but didn't have any on hand and didn't feel like making a run to the store.

So I took out my ground chuck patties that had thawed from the day before. Then a few minutes later after checking the pantry (and finding a can of chili) I settled on a bowl of chili (no beans) with shredded fiesta blend cheese on top. Put the burgers back in the fridge for tomorrow.

The chili was great! Getting to be that time of the year.

Making celery soup and chicken breasts Provencal over egg noodles tonight. Taking the day off from painting to give my back a rest. Going up and down ladders for 7 hours takes a toll on my old bones.

Ran some errands today - HD for fasteners and cobalt drill bits for my boat trailer project and a new battery from Auto Zone for my '83 Porsche 911SC restoration project and then Publix to grab those hot dogs and a few other things. That place is a trip sometimes. I was in the pudding aisle picking up some pudding and it's right across from where the pickles and olives are. A lady came over and was looking for pickled asparagus. I never heard of it but she swore it was to die for.

And of course, it never fails that there are people who just park their cart in the middle of the aisle with zero awareness that there are other shoppers with carts who cannot get by because of this. They should have pre-recorded announcements over the PA system every 20 minutes..."Shoppers please remember to be courteous to other shoppers and keep your freaking carts to one side or the other so others can get by you. Thank you for your continued cooperation."

After all that I decided to have my 2 burgers tonight anyway. Hot dogs maybe tomorrow?

Tonight I've got 1" thick cut pork chops and fresh bi-color cob corn for the grill. Pat's Ho-made on the last two turns on the chops. Inside we'll have a pot of fresh steamed green cabbage and Ms. Jan's homemade Mac & Cheese.
    Jalapeno cornbread on the side.

The back porch Yeti has been re-stocked and ready for the afternoon/evening.

Mom's been asking for a Haddock dinner from Boston Fish House lately, so that's what I got for her and I tonight. She loves their onion rings so I got those and steamed asparagus for the 2 sides.

They have a food server there named "Agatha" - which I thought was pretty cool. You never run into anyone named "Agatha".

While I was waiting for my take out order, a man came in and asked if he could eat outside - and was told yes. After he went outside I said to the waitress (not Agatha - a different one) "I bet he's a smoker." and she nodded her head. Well guess what? We were both wrong. He has his dog with him when I left the building and that was why he wanted to sit outside. His dog was a black poodle without the fancy haircut and her name was "Jazz", which I thought was pretty cool.

The Haddock is always good but I think next time I will make a fish dinner for Mom and see if she likes it any less. The Haddock isn't cheap, ya know.

Also, I've bought frozen onion rings that turned out just fine.

    And anyone can steam asparagus.

But whatever makes Mom happy, right?

Another football Saturday brings out the grilled wings and a cold tray menu—add on today on the grill (and boy are they good) will be Hickory Hollow’s finest smoked venison sausage links—cutting each link into 3 pieces, butterfly them open, and stuff them with shredded pepper jack cheese and topped with chopped up green spring onions.

The Yeti is loaded and ready for this game day—

Damn, that house is looking good. Maybe we will sell it instead of renting irt.
