    Watching the Mets vs Cubs tonight on MLB network—

    After the top half of the 1st inning (3 up/3 down Cubs) as the SP is leaving the mound he gets to the 3rd base line and pulls his completely tucked in jersey out to walk off the field looking like—well, you know—

    Can somebody please explain this without it being an excuse?

    Thanks in advance....

    Well, he did it again—so I’m gonna say it’s a ritual/superstition with him—now that’s hard to believe out of a ball player...:D:rolleyes::D:rolleyes:

    Also became the first rookie to set a team HR record since 1938...

    Alonso 1st rookie to set team HR mark since '38

    He's fallen just below pace for the MLB HR rookie record, but also only 1 HR behind current MLB leader (Trout, 43).

    (Conforto, former Beaver, also hit his first triple of the season, in case anybody is wondering why the Pete Alonso news may have been buried)

    Alonso Breaks Mets' Home Run Record
    Daniel Apple
    Alonso set a new Mets record with his 42nd home run of the season on Tuesday night
    Last night in New York City, rookie Pete Alonso launched the first pitch he saw in the fourth inning deep into the night, a swing that made history for Alonso and the New York Mets.

    The rookie from Tampa, Fla., has taken Major League Baseball by storm in 2019.

    Over the first half of the season he set numerous historic marks, was named to the National League All-Star team and earned an invite to the 2019 Home Run Derby -- which he won.

    Alonso's success has continued in the latter part of the summer and on Tuesday he broke the Mets' single-season home run record, launching his 42nd long ball of the season. Alonso is first rookie set his franchise's single-season home run record since Johnny Rizzo for the Pirates in 1938.

    In 2017 Judge hit 3 HR in August, and then 15 in September (including 4 2-HR games).
