    Keeping it simple tonight: homemade pesto on farfalle (bow tie) pasta and a salad.

    Talk about simple.....slaw dogs for lunch earlier!

    Two Oscar Mayer Angus beef dogs - heated in water stove top - on fresh Wonder brand buns with Yellow mustard on one side and Publix sweet cole slaw on the other. Chilled Diet Coke in a tall glass with lots of ice cubes.

    Ahhhhhh......that was sooooo good!

    The girls got the other two dogs....woof!

    I didn't think you were that old. 8 ways is back in my early youth. They went to 12 ways later.

    Hey - I just got back in from a little job I had and stopped at the Dollar General store to pick up a couple things. Back in the back in the bread department, a gentleman was contemplating which hot dog buns to buy - he was trying to do the math...ha ha. I told him - sir - you need the Wonder - in fact I had some today and I already feel it building my body stronger 12 different ways. Then I said - look how FRESH it is! He ended up grabbing two bags of them.

    Now we'll see how good that seedless watermelon is I got.....stay tuned! :ninja3:

    Leftover slaw dog for lunch. Changed things up a bit - spicy dark brown mustard instead of yellow.....yum!

    Tonight it will be ribeyes, poblano/potato gratin, and pear/Gorgonzola salad. I am hoping that the rain holds off to keep the grilling simple. I will use my gas grill to char the poblanos and my new toy to sear and cook the steaks.

    My younger boy is back from Sweden so the the ribeyes are in his honor. He won't eat the other stuff so I will bake him a potato.

    Just about time to start charring the peppers so I can peel them.

    It is just like German food: Three days later you are hungry again.

    I once spent a week in Munich and down in the Bavarian Alps. I was craving something green to eat so we went to an Italian restaurant where I knew that I could get a gruener salat (green salad). The dinner was decent.

    The best thing was that grappa was not on the menu and after I asked for it I got to drink shots with the kitchen staff and the owner for free. It was more than a few. This was not the only time that this has happened.

    Added in edit: This was well before grappa became a fad in the US. I think that it is no longer a fad.

    So far no rain. I have gotten past the Kamado Joe being open to start so it will happen, but maybe with an umbrella. I don't mind. We do need some rain. I just don't want to go outside with lightning in the area.

    I have it set up so half of the cooking surface is low over the hot coals for a good sear and half indirect heat much higher up to finish. These ribeyes are pretty thick so I might choke it down to reduce the temps for the cook after the sear to get to medium rare.

    If I was cooking a lot of steaks I might want two of these: one for searing and one for finishing.

    Bazza - I get made fun of all the time in my house because I believe you simply cant beat a hot dog boiled on the stove. Its actually the only way I will eat one.

    With our hectic life the boys always nuke them and have become accustomed to that. But a hot dog boiled on the stove takes me back to being a kid at Grannys house. And dont even think about pulling it out early. Its gotta sit in there for a while to be authentic. LOL

    I'm from Chicago. Don't get me going about hot dogs.

    But if you ever go to Chicago forget about deep dish pizza (overrated, but good when done well) and hot dogs, and try to find the perfect Italian beef sandwich.

    Added in edit: Dox's on Pershing Road (Southside) had an amazing Italian beef sandwich back in the 1970's. They are no longer in business. The big name places are OK, but not the same. It is the difference is between good and awesome.

    Tonight it’ll be Oriental Chicken Stir Fry over teriyaki rice—we really enjoy the oriental vegetables as a change of pace—

    The ice cold longnecks really enjoy watching the sunset every evening—;)

    Thanks, Nitro. Those cooking directions are actually on the Oscar Mayer label so it's not like we're making something up or anything. Sheesh.... ;)

    I'm done with dogs for a while so today for lunch I went back to some slow cooked chicken tenderloins I made earlier last week that have been in the fridge. Shredded a few and mixed in some Pats and had a couple BBQ chicken sliders on Martin's fresh Dutch taste Potato Rolls. Along with Sweet Tea and ice cubes.

    74's post has me thinking about Rice-A-Roni for dinner......

    Boiling wild caught shrimp tonight with Zatarains. With corn on the cob, but not potatoes. Eating leftover potatoes from last night instead.
