I knew that Musial had a career number of triples similar to what all-time greats had a long time ago. He had 177 career triples. So I was going to call BS on the claim that he didn't hit one in his first season and I looked it up. Stan Musial played 12 games his first season in The Show at age 20 with no triples and a 0.426 batting average. Then in 1942 he hit TEN triples in his true rookie season
Leave it to an anti-Cub to know the stats of a Cardinal. So really we need to be comparing the number of games it took Alonso and Musial to hit their first triple.
Musial really was "The Man", but I have a very special warm feeling about how great Lou Brock was after he was no longer a Cub.
He has actually cooled off in terms of average. Down to .280 on the year. Power is still pretty good, obviously.
Pete went 2-4 with a 2-run bomb and 4 RBIs. The 2-run bomb occurred in the top of the 9th. Oh and it went 449 feet so the extra pushups seemed to have helped.

When I was a kid and the Twins came to Chicago I always showed up early enough to see Harmon Killebrew take BP. He could really put a hurt on a baseball.
