OAKLAND ATHLETICS — Sent RHP Logan Shore to Detroit to complete an earlier trade. Shore was Oakland’s second-round draft pick in 2016 out of UF. Injuries have slowed his progress in the minors. Shore finished the 2018 season on the disabled list with ulnar nerve irritation and his line in AA is 5.50 ERA, 68⅔ ip, 49 Ks, 19 BB, 7 HR, 4.27 FIP. Shore, 23, had a 2-0 record and 1.21 ERA to start the season with Class-A Stockton after missing much of 2017 with a lat injury, but he was 1-6 with a 5.50 ERA after being promoted to Double-A Midland and he spent three stints on the DL this year, pitching in 17 games.
Did Singer not pitch at all this summer in the minors? I know Faedo didn't last year but Kowar pitched this year.
I have no idea what has happened to Brady Singer, but he is a pitching coach's dream. He arrived at UF with a mid-90's fastball with a huge amount of armside movement. He left with a low-to-mid 90's fastball with a lot of sink. Clearly a change of mechanics was involved. Put both of them in your arsenal (able to throw two different ways consistently is way easier said than done) and it will be really hard for anyone to hit at any level. Just add a solid change-up to that and OMG. Then adding an occasional curve or slider that doesn't have to be that great is icing on a beautiful cake.
It is not uncommon for a team to know the schedule that they want him on--it's a built in break for his body because of the work load he finished at UF with and them protecting their investment--they had to know all along that they wanted to bring him in for instructs early, so give him a rest and then get started early into their way of doing things--look for him to have restrictions on his work load this year also--they will stretch him out over a longer period of time with the 142 game milb schedule so that his body can adjust to the longer season grind--
Singer doesn't have any stats, and according to this story from a few weeks ago he was recovering from a hamstring injury. Seems safe to assume he didn't and won't pitch this season. Which isn't a bad thing and it's probably not something the Royals are too upset over. Singer pitched a lot of innings over the last two years and a lot of those were high stress innings.
Bader is being called the starting center for next years Card's team. It is his to lose. Very excited for what he has accomplished and seeing his hard work come to fruition! He sure is fun to watch play baseball.
that always grates on me to hear or read, former player is how I would like to see more reportersm broadcasters and fans use
