I don't think the timeframe is really an issue because they can throw as many agents as they need to at the investigation and there weren't many people to interview. The questions in the press will be more about why they didn't interview person X, but that's really their decision and not a timeframe thing.

Aside from that, your assertion has no better foundation than me asserting that you must be a serial rapist because keep defending this guy so aggressively. There is no foundation for that kind of assertion. If this happened to me in real life, I would approach it as Kavanaugh started to in his opening statements - with respect for the victim, believing that she may well have been assaulted, but that I didn't do it. What I would not do, is lie about everything in my background that didn't portray me as a choir boy. Nor would I repeatedly interrupt and talk over Senators in a public hearing. Nor would I go off on a wild partisan rant.
Although it sounds bizarre, Kavanaugh's confirmation will probably help rather than hurt the Democrats, a defeat, not very likely now, would benefit the Republicans candidates more in November. In close elections the result will be based on turnout. In the case of both parties a negative rather than positive outcome is more likely to motivate their respective base constituencies. As an example, Claire McCaskill beat Todd Akin in a very close election in 2012 in large part because Akin suggested that women who were the victims of "legitimate rape" were unlikely to become pregnant. The same voters who turned out for McCaskill six years ago are also likely to turnout for McCaskill in November in large part based on McCaskill's opposition to Kavanaugh. If Kavanaugh is defeated, an unlikely hypothetical, aggrieved Republicans would be more likely to turnout.
That appears to be the case. Quite a few organizations are making late pitches to shut it down, though. Not sure if that will have impact.
One thing is for sure is that this smear job woke up the conservatives that weren't already awake. You can't look at a couple special elections and deduce anything from those, especially Alabama where a man who had a very strong affinity for underage girls actually almost won a seat in the U.S. Senate. Doesn't say much about Doug Jones, quite frankly. What you need to do is look at battleground states from 2016 where senate races are close today. Trump outperformed in some of those battleground states by 8, 10 points. You're going to see some upsets on Election Night next month. Trump is doing a brilliant thing by holding all these rallies. People are actually turning out for these things in droves and it just gives the R candidate in that given state an open mic to campaign in front of tens of thousands of Trump fans. Finally, trying to predict the outcome of these mid-terms next month using faulty methods that got obliterated in 2016 is going to leave you very disappointed. And you can't fool the American people. This was a smear, a take down and Trump's push will bring a lot of red back home that people aren't expecting to be there next year.
Probably true to a degree but will vary on where it plays. The negative campaign ads and outrage on this will play well in circles that do not believe Kavanaugh should be confirmed. In areas where all people can see is him being a victim of a political hit, those types of ads would backfire, I think.

Agree that Trump campaigning will help in some areas. Much like I posted wrt Kavanaugh getting confirmed, I think it will vary depending on the audience. If he campaigns much in areas where Kavanaugh is not supported, and particularly in areas where there are many educated women voters, I think it would be a mistake. But when he's preaching to people who thinks its funny as hell to mock sexual assault victims, he'll probably do just fine.
Do you not see the end result here? From now on no one will ever be able to be confirmed to any government position. All it will take is one person making a 35 year old claim. Since being accused disqualifies anyone from a position.
Just so you know, even if she was sexually assaulted by someone back in HS, it does not put her above the law. I would say going to jail is worse than being mocked, no matter who you are.
