First, there is one sure way out of a perjury trap. Tell the truth from the beginning and continue to tell the truth. Second, if the Ds did lay a perjury trap for Kavanaugh, he's complicit in letting the Ds succeed. Kavanaugh didn't have to go on Fox and claim to be a virginal choir boy too busy playing football and going to church to have assaulted anyone.

Kavanaugh then doubled down on this choir boy persona during his testimony. If it can be proven Kavanaugh was lying and he was in fact a hard partying, hard drinking kid in high school, then it goes to Kavanaugh's credibility. And if can lie about who he was in high school to protect his reputation, what else would Kavanaugh lie about?

Here's the bad news, Republicans are rushing to push him through to SCOTUS. The election is still a month away. Will the Republican enthusiasm last if they get their victory? Because there will be a lot of enraged Democrats and Independents itching to vote.

What if some of these red state Dem Senators in close races vote against Kav?

Heitkamp and Manchin are the only two who haven't announced. Heitkamp is done either ways. Manchin has a big lead and will almost definitely vote for Kavanaugh if the Republicans have 50 votes. Donnelly already said he's voting no. He's not trailing in the polls. McCaskill said she's voting no and is currently tied. If there's an enthusiasm drop for Republicans, it's going to cost them. Plus, you're going to have to deal with Independents.

I Was Brett Kavanaugh’s College Roommate. He Lied Under Oath About His Drinking and Terms in His Yearbook.
I do not know if Brett attacked Christine Blasey Ford in high school or if he sexually humiliated Debbie in front of a group of people she thought were her friends. But I can say that he lied under oath. He claimed that he occasionally drank too much but never enough to forget details of the night before, never enough to “black out.” He did, regularly. He said that “boofing” was farting and the “Devil’s Triangle” was a drinking game. “Boofing” and “Devil’s Triangle” are sexual references. I know this because I heard Brett and his friends using these terms on multiple occasions.

I could understand this thinking if you value the Republican Party over the country.

Obama did a really poor job of destroying it. Unemployment dropped like a rock, and the stock market went through the roof.

Depends what time they open the Senate on Friday. Cloture comes to a vote 1 hour after the Senate is convened on Friday.

Assuming the cloture motion passes, further debate on the nomination will be limited to 30 hours. I would strongly assume McConnell will keep the Senate in session all night Friday night to burn up those 30 hours.

Assuming cloture vote passes and McConnell keeps the Senate open all night Friday night, final confirmation vote would be roughly 31 hours after whenever the Senate convenes on Friday.

What is the over/under on the number of Senators who actually read the report? I'll go with 60.

I hope Republicans realize what they're doing. It's a mistake. They're digging their own grave. Frankly, it's a great disappointment to me, but if it's going to happen, now is the best time for it.
