What I think are some salient words from Mr. Flake. Asked if he would have done that if he were running for reelection, Flake, who has announced his retirement from the Senate, immediately said, "No. Not a chance." "There's no value to reaching across the aisle," Flake said, elaborating on his answer. "There's no currency for that anymore. There's no incentive." Flake says if FBI investigation finds Kavanaugh lied, nomination is over - CNNPolitics This is why we seem to be increasingly divisive times. People don't want to vote for representatives that are interested in compromise. They like to see these people never give up battles, which is why so few dems are voting for Kavanaugh and vice versa. I think this is an unfortunate outcome, and I hope we get a chance to see someone like Mr. Flake as a candidate for the presidency in the near future. (though I doubt it)
The three accusers have made clear they will talk to the FBI. Kavanaugh will talk to the FBI. P.J. Smyth has nothing to fear as a fact witness and said that he'll cooperate FULLY with the FBI. Leland Keyser said that she will cooperate FULLY with the FBI and also has nothing to fear as a fact witness. That leaves only Mark Judge. Mark Judge's lawyer said, "If the FBI or any law enforcement agency requests Mr. Judge's cooperation, he will answer any and all questions posed to him." You haven't offered anything to back your speculation that people won't talk to the FBI. The statements given so far indicate very much the opposite. The only one I question is Mark Judge. However, it looks awful bad for Kavanaugh if Judge refuses to talk to the FBI.
John Kasich is a perfect example of that. It's telling that many Republicans don't like him. I would like to have representatives who can work with the other side, but it gets harder and harder to want that as each side seeks to widen the wedge between us.
I didn’t see anyone talk about how Kellyanne Conaway LIED about being sexually assaulted today. Sure, she looked forth coming and deeply affected by it but she offered no witnesses, no physical evidence, and filed no police report as far as I can tell. LIAR!!
I dare anyone to defend this "investigation": The Confusion Surrounding the F.B.I.’s Renewed Investigation of Brett Kavanaugh With a one-week deadline looming over the investigation, some who say they have information relevant to the F.B.I.’s probe are suspicious that it will amount to what one of Kavanaugh’s former Yale classmates called a “whitewash.” Roberta Kaplan, an attorney representing one potential witness, Elizabeth Rasor, a former girlfriend of Kavanaugh’s high-school friend Mark Judge, said her client “has repeatedly made clear to the Senate Judiciary Committee and to the F.B.I. that she would like the opportunity to speak to them.” But, Kaplan said, “We’ve received no substantive response.” Christine Blasey Ford has accused Judge of being an accessory to Kavanaugh’s sexual assault on her, in 1982, when they were all in high school. Kavanaugh has vehemently denied any role in the assault, and Judge, through his attorney, Barbara Van Gelder, also has denied any recollection of it. Kaplan said that early this past week she began reaching out to the F.B.I. and to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Rasor’s behalf. “She feels a sense of civic duty to tell what she knows,” Kaplan said. “But the only response we’ve gotten are e-mails saying that our e-mails have been ‘received.’ ” At one point, she said, an F.B.I. official suggested she try calling an 800-number telephone tip line. F.B.I. officials referred questions to the White House. The White House spokesman Raj Shah defended the process, and released a statement that placed responsibility for any limitations on the Senate. “The scope and duration has been set by the Senate. The White House is letting the FBI agents do what they are trained to do,” his statement said. Shah accused Senate Democrats of merely wanting to “further delay and politicize” the investigation rather than being genuinely concerned about its integrity. Rasor dated Judge on and off for two to three years while they were students at Catholic University, and she is now a public-school teacher in New York. After hearing Judge’s denials, Rasor came forward, offering to give a sworn statement to the F.B.I. challenging Judge’s credibility. According to Kaplan, the F.B.I. has so far shown no interest in hearing what Rasor has to say, and efforts to contact the Bureau have gone nowhere. A Yale classmate attempting to corroborate Deborah Ramirez’s account that, during her freshman year at Yale, Kavanaugh thrust his penis in her face at a drunken party, said that he too has struggled unsuccessfully to reach the F.B.I. The classmate, who asked to remain anonymous, recalled hearing about Ramirez’s allegation either the night it happened or during the following two days. The classmate said that he was “one-hundred-per-cent certain” that he had heard an account that was practically identical to Ramirez’s, thirty-five years ago, but the two had never spoken about it. He had hoped to convey this to the F.B.I., but, when he reached out to a Bureau official in Washington, D.C., he was told to contact the F.B.I. field office nearest his home. When he tried that, he was referred to a recording. After several attempts to reach a live person at the field office, he finally reached an official who he said had no idea what he was talking about. At this point, he went back to the official at the F.B.I.’s D.C. headquarters, who then referred him, too, to an 800-number tip line. (He eventually left a tip through an online portal.) -------------------------------------------- It's a national disgrace that people are trying to come forward to tell what they know, and they're being stonewalled.
I have seriously reduced my opinion of Yale if their graduates can't reach someone in the FBI over the last 4 days when they have potential explosive information .
They "reached" the FBI. They were turned away. It's there if you read the article or the passages I quoted.
If I only wanted to "reach" the FBI so I could say I tried that is exactly what I would do. Call the local FBI office after hours on a weekend and say I got a recording. I would bet you if I had some substantial information regarding this case, I would get a return phone call. And I graduated from Florida, not Yale, where everyone has connections to someone in DC.
So you're just going to ignore what was said in the article? Let me refresh your memory: "He had hoped to convey this to the F.B.I., but, when he reached out to a Bureau official in Washington, D.C., he was told to contact the F.B.I. field office nearest his home. (He eventually left a tip through an online portal.)" and "Kaplan said that early this past week she began reaching out to the F.B.I. and to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Rasor’s behalf. “She feels a sense of civic duty to tell what she knows,” Kaplan said. “But the only response we’ve gotten are e-mails saying that our e-mails have been ‘received.’ ” At one point, she said, an F.B.I. official suggested she try calling an 800-number telephone tip line." Are they supposed to storm the office and demand to be heard?
I just now saw one of the sworn affidavits submitted to the Committee. It's the one from Keith Koegler. You can find it in this link: Christine Blasey Ford releases four sworn affidavits backing her allegations Koegler says that in the summer of 2016, Dr. Ford told him she was assaulted by a federal judge in Washington while she was in high school. He then says that she emailed him two days after Justice Kennedy announced his retirement that the person who assaulted her, Brett Kavanaugh, was the favorite for SCOTUS (i.e., it was BEFORE he had been nominated). I wonder if he can produce the emails. That would be quite damning.
I believe her. It's a shame too because it's politicos like her who contribute mightily to the cynicism many feel. Trump might have perfected the art of completely ignoring his own raging hypocrisy, but foot soldiers like her have done way more than their fare share. You wonder how she can look at herself in the mirror and not see her own lack of integrity. Just too many examples of her going on tv and not spinning to get some ideological edge in what they *want to believe* but offering up an alternative reality, untethered from facts and reason. It's an addiction to power, eff everyone else.
Bart O'Kavanaugh was probably afraid to speak the truth about his drinking and sexual exploits because that would make the accusations of sexual assault more plausible and the Republicans couldn't have that. I can't think of many other reasons a 53 year old man would be afraid to admit he drank too much, had sex with multiple women, said and did obnoxious things, and generally behaved like a college student when he was 18 years old and in college. He could probably even cop to having a fake ID. These aren't exactly major crimes to admit to 30+ years later. If anything I think such experiences would make a person a better judge. Who wants to be judged by someone who's literally never did anything wrong?
I was thinking the same damn thing, many many times. Own up honestly to it, apologize with a deep sincerity even if he doesn't think it was him, and he comes out ahead with his reputation pretty much in tact. But ever since he jumped onto Fox to go on the offensive, imo he lost it and showed a temperament and a political bias that makes him unfit to serve as a justice.
Who ignored what???? You mean like you, ignoring multiple *invitations* to reconcile your dismissal of Erika Kinsman as a cleat chasin liar vs Rapeis Winston (in deference to your nolie fealty), while then buying all in to Doc Ford v J. Kav, conveniently in line with your lefty politics, despite the former submitting to a rape kit the night of, and the latter sitting on her laurels for 36 yesrs? Not to mention claiming that 'sworn testimony is proof that a thing happened', which is why you believe Ford (though expressly refuted by kav), while there was also sworn stmt by kman vs JW... Tell us more about ppl. ignoring inconvenient stuff...you seem to be an expert in the field.
Well, his mom and wife were in attendance--theres 2 reasons....and his daughters at home, a couple more... Just sayn...
Why would they need the emails, when they have the *proof* already??? You know...a sworn stmt n all... Lol!
Im your huckleberry... Its what the dems clamoured for at the hearing. They practically begged kav to request it himself. ...if they wanted something more thorough, they shouldnt have waited to the 11th hour.
