    Enlighten us.

Since she said she believes her friend, that allows you to ignore the fact she swore in her statement that she doesn’t remember ever being at a party with Kavanaugh? That everyone attending the party forgot that they attended it together? Even though Ford ran out of the house crying without telling anyone? Nothing? Her statement doesn’t even hint at the possibility she was at a party with Kavanaugh. Since the statement is couched in “legalize” to prevent issues with perjury, we should automatically read her statement to mean that Kavanaugh must have been to a party with her, but she just doesn’t remember? Bullspit.

The sole reason the statements are so vague is they were written by lawyers to cover their clients ass, and that not one of them can back up Ford’s story. But of course, statistics say that only 5% of women lie about rape. And statistics also show that only 1 out of 6 (16%) people back up Ford’s story of the party. You know, statistics.

Sure, but let's be honest here, multiple people on this thread have misrepresented Keyer's statement, turning it into ostensible evidence that the incident never occurred. That isn't what her statement shows. It would be wholly understandable that Keyser doesn't remember a party from 37 years ago since nothing happened to her and humans forget most of the details of their daily lives. Point being, not remembering the party is not then evidence exonerating Kavanaugh or demonstrative of Ford being a liar.

Why would she not testify? She asked the Committee to allow her to testify and already swore under oath, which opened her up to perjury charges. It was the Committee who refused her.

If they can't get this thing done, pubs will get killed in the midterms.

So if there is a week long investigation and it comes back that there is no evidence to back her claim up, I would expect the Senate vote to be 100-0.

Because there is no way you can be 100% sure that something that happened 35+ years at a party where you were most likely drinking and that happened on a date that even the “victim” doesn’t know? And to be completely honest and to cover your ass, your lawyer recommends you include the language “to the best of my memory” or the like, to give you protection in the unlikely case something does come up that proves that your memory from 35+ years ago was wrong.

But it is statistically likely that all 3 independent witnesses, including her girl friend who was the only other girl at the party, would not remember the party or Ford leaving the party without telling anyone. Right?

    It’s not rocket science. It’s lawyer/politics 101.

So you can believe Kavanaugh was a high school leader of a gang bang unit she witnessed at 10 parties and never reported it to authorities?

If after the investigation is done and no new information is found we would be right where we are now - uncertain. I think there may be a few more that vote for confirmation though.

She swore to it under oath with nothing to gain and everything to lose. And there's information that lends credence to her account.

Stuebenville, OH HS football players rape case.

Of course it's quite possible, and quite possible that people won't report it, including other teen girls.

Or otoh, that in some cases nowadays, brag about it on social media.

When Ford signs a multi-million dollar book deal here in a few months, will you still think her life is "destroyed"?

Dr. Ford obviously plays the long game. The prospects of a book deal at some point in the future is why she discussed the event with her therapist 6 years ago. Genius.

You'd be surprised what this is dredging up. I talked to a co-worker who through remembering an incident she saw at a party and talking to friends from the time, found out that there were a group of guys who gang-raped girls at multiple parties after they passed out.

Again, the belief that something happened doesn’t make it true. Just because someone alleges that the moon landings were fake and stake their reputation on it, does that mean it is true? People have staked their reputations on Lee Harvey Oswald not being the lone gunman, but that doesn’t automatically make it true. You have all those ancient astronaut theorists who put their credibility on the line for their beliefs, but absent proof, that risking of their credibility means NOTHING towards proving their theory/credibility.

There are a lot of things/ideas/events that people have staked their reputation on that turned out not to be true. So this risked her reputation is a garbage argument when it comes to proving something actually happened.

Just to repeat, she has no PROOF. No independent evidence other than her word. The 3 independent witness available that she named as being there refused to back her story. And to argue that just coming forward is proof that something happened, I wouldn’t want to live in your guilty until proven innocent world.

The fact that she could foresee--correctly--that coming forward would upend her life doesn't matter. Those death threats forcing her to move three times already don't matter. The attacks on her back from people, calling her a liar, a bimbo, a slut, skank, etc...don't matter.

She accused a privileged white man, and you just can't do that, thus she deserves all the hate she's received.
