So your argument is that they took existing slang words, changed their meaning to a bunch of other stuff, and then forgot about it (as his classmates that used the terms have all said the definitions are the standard ones for at least two of those terms)?

Are you sure, I thought it was, but I could be wrong.

The presumption of innocence doesn't extend beyond the courtroom.

Comparing a murder, to an alleged inappropriate touching 35+ years ago. Wow. The murder actually has a dead body and physical evidence that a crime occurred, versus a story that was disputed by everyone else present at the scene, with no physical evidence. So not even remotely similar. A missing child case would be more appropriate.

So just investigate Kavanuagh’s past looking into an alleged crime that occurred sometime during the summer and that none of the other witnesses at the scene of the alleged crime corroborated? Why not investigate every entry Kavanaugh made into his calendar that summer? Can you say witch hunt?

Don’t find evidence that a crime occurred, keep searching? What happens if those turn up as being wrong, start checking the other entries? We have something called due process you know, and what probable cause exists to continue an open-ended investigation into his life?

His nomination is about to be voted out of committee to the full senate where I expect he will be confirmed. I don't think this ends the digging into his background though and eventually the truth will be uncovered. He will, however, already be sitting on the SC. Will false statements he may have made in his confirmation hearing be grounds for impeachment or will that depend on things he does while a SC justice?
edit: impeachment of a SCJ doesn't seem to happen very frequently. Only one was in 1805.
Only one justice has been impeached by the House of Representatives (Samuel Chase, March 1804), but he was acquitted in the Senate (March 1805).

Feinstein also lied yesterday. Anyone believe she upon questioning inquired her staff for the first time whether they leaked Ford's letter to the Washington Post? That was awful.

You didn’t read far enough back. I was responding to the outright LIE stated up thread that 3 witnesses corroborated Kavanaugh. They did not. Granted neither did they corroborate Fords testimony.

You are basically saying don’t investigate because all the investigation was done in the media in the last 5 days. That’s ridiculous, you have to admit.

It's accurate. You were probably even okay with the fact that Ford's lawyer was trying to arrange it where Ford got last at bat yesterday.

LOL, the debate is over. Kavanaugh is getting confirmed. If there was any debate left to be had, that would be in doubt at the moment.

I know his quotes, and I know the DM Isn’t exactly the arbiter of fact. But even relatively conservative papers believe that he was less than honest. I don’t post stuff from there unless I see it other places too.

Kavanaugh again falsely claims he could legally drink in Maryland during high school

I honestly don’t get why people have such a need to defend this guy, he’s a tool. Confirming him is a loss for republicans - all it is going to do is fire up democrats, when there are 5 or more other people on the short list surely with similar credentials and are likely a far better fit, without the drama. But Trump has to “win”, even if it means losing.

I am completely unaware of that exchange, but definitely if I had turned on the TV to see Ford testifying after Kavanaugh, I would have thought, “no way! This is equivalent to the mass murder of millions of Jews!”

I agree he will be confirmed and I wasn't talking about the debate by senate committee members as they all have the good sense not to invoke Nazi imagery in a desperate attempt to further their viewpoints.

I am not name calling. I'm saying some of you guys are behaving in the same manner as the Nazis did. I haven't seen one of you give Kavanaugh even ONE slightest benefit of the doubt in this entire thing. Not ONE. If I missed it, name it. You've basically determined Kavanaugh is guilty until proven innocent by not giving any consideration whatsoever to his version of events. That's what they did in Germany in the late 1930's and early 40's. I don't think any of you are truly Nazi sympathizers. You're just mimicking a certain tactic they employed routinely.

I don't know …. I'm to presume Ford is innocent of lying? Yet, her recollection of events are mistaken, inconsistent, evolving over the last 36 years …….. there's nothing to corroborate her allegation, several people who allegedly should have known of the assault did not know of it or recall it …….. etc

That's my opinion. I think her description of Kavanaugh sexually assaulting her is a fabrication. I think there are likely multiple reasons she did this including (1) psychological problems on her part, (2) financial motives as she works in the abortion pharma industry and (3) political motives especially considering involvement of Feinstein and those advising, prepping Ford …. those likely writing and refining her story.

You were unaware that Katz tried to cajole Grassley into agreeing to make Kavanaugh go on first? This was widely reported.

By the way, the vote was scheduled for 130p and hasn’t started, two of some goings on in the room. If I had to guess, it would be Flake debating whether to say his vote wasn’t guaranteed on the full senate floor without an investigation. Either way, they will get there eventually probably
