I believe Dr. Ford. Which means that Kavanaugh put himself in that position.

You have no idea whether she made up any of this. She may have, but we don't know.

She requested an FBI investigation. Several times I believe.

So if that's what you believe should happen, definitely contact Grassley and Trump and let them know. Ford will be happy. Don't think they will, though. ;)

So, basically the GOP needs to do exactly what Feinstein wants them to do? LOL C'mon, man.

Do I think that the Democratic Party, still under the leadership of Hillary Clinton as the '16 nominee, put out a political hit contract on Kavanaugh?

    Yes. Yes, I do.

That's not an answer. He claimed it to be a Clinton revenge conspiracy. Are you accusing the Clintons of putting out this political hit? I didn't ask you if you accused the Democrats.

The authorities (local Maryland LE and/or FBI) should have been contacted and a request made for an investigation back in July.

We're talking about a lifetime appointment here.

Hindsight is indeed 20/20 but if we're pointing fingers on who messed up.....I think we need to start here.

And the reason for the delay is based entirely on trying to get the confirmation delayed past the mid-terms.

    Who does this?

The Democratic Party screwed this up. I'm sorry Dr. Ford had to go through this. She deserved better.

That's what I just told you. Do I need to preface every single statement in my post with "I believe" or "In my opinion"? I figured prefacing the first statement was sufficient.

It's too bad none of the Republicans had the balls to ask Dr. Ford, "Do you work for Hillary Clinton!". "Are you a democratic operative".

They are really trying to play it both ways. They both "believe her story", and suggest it is a "political hit". It strikes me that it cannot be both. It can only be one or the other. So when these republicans say they believe Ford's story, or found her credible, would you say they are lying?

Yah technicalities. You can’t prove sexual assault, so now let us do a full investigation into the meaning of the words in his yearbook. And if that doesn’t achieve what you want, then what do you want to investigate next?

Some way to get what you want. You cannnot prove that he lied about his yearbook. The meanings of words change over time, you know. And they may not have used the “accepted” meaning of the word that you think it means.

How far away are the mid-terms? The Anita Hill investigation took three days. You're telling me that we couldn't have given the FBI one or two weeks? Nah. The delay excuse is weak. Feinstein deserves her criticism, but there was plenty of time for an investigation. The Republicans don't want one. It's too risky.

    I don't give a rat's ass what Feinstein wants.

Last I heard she was calling for an investigation into the remaining allegations. So what I propose is not that. Not sure if she changed her stance.

But confirming someone who repeatedly lied under oath and may be guilty of sexual assault(s) is a horrible precedent.

It's the last thing that should be done right now. Which probably means that is what will happen.

What Feinstein really wants is to somehow block all nominations until some magical blue wave.

There is no reason Pubs need to allow that. Just put another nominee through. Surely Gorsuch isn't the only conservative judge with no baggage like that and not inclined to lie under oath.

Is there PROOF that the reason for the delay "is based entirely on trying to get the confirmation delayed..."? If not, that statement is factually incorrect.

Who is Ford's life long friend that turned the tables on her and denied any recollection of the event:

Keyser previously coached golf at Georgetown University and is now executive producer of Bob Beckel's podcast. Keyser is the ex-wife of Beckel, a former Democratic operative and commentator. A search on OpenSecrets.org reveals Keyser's only political donation has been to former Democratic senator Byron Dorgan.

"Simply put, Ms. Keyser does not know Mr. Kavanaugh and she has no recollection of ever being at a party or gathering where he was present, with, or without, Dr. Ford," lawyer Howard J. Walsh said in a statement sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The Anita Hill investigation took 3 days. They could have opened the exact investigation that was called for last week, and still had yesterdays hearing on the same day (or perhaps a few days later to make it a bit more thorough than Anita Hill). At the very least, it may have been a more informative hearing with some additional investigation and more time to prepare based on whatever facts or statements came out of that investigation - even if minimal, something is better than nothing. Couldn't have been worse than he-said she-said nonsense, and crazy rants that we predictably saw. The worst case, for a fair minded person, is that investigation would have led to the same outcome of he-said she-said but with slightly better information.

Actually in the case of Keyser, the most appropriate analogy would be:

    Q. Did you have bacon with breakfast 35 years ago?
    A. I am not familiar with bacon and have no recollection of having ever eaten it, either with or without breakfast.
