I thought he handled himself pretty well considering all the lies and BS he's been put through. All the testimony by Ford was a waste with no proof from her to back her accusations. The witnesses she claimed was there, all said basically the same, It didn't happen.

Why do you lie? Witnesses said they don’t remember - not that it didn’t happen. Witnesses weren’t attacked at party. Why would they remember?

Oh, btw...you need to be called in to be a witness.

No the witnesses that *were there* did not say that *it didn't happen* basically or not basically. Two of them have said they don't remember the party or the incident, which would make perfect sense since if they weren't up in the room where Ford alleges it took place, how would they know? Or if they don't remember the party at all, do you think this is extraordinary? I can remember about three or four parties form hs, despite knowing that I attended way more. But unless something significant happens, we humans can forget hella lot.

As for proof, what kind of proof would she be able to bring except her testimony under oath? By the standard seeming some men want, basically if there isn't physical evidence of their wrong-doing it didn't happen.

I love how you tried to spin this. Funny how all the witnesses including her good friend didn't remember this. Maybe their trying to be nice and not call her liar. I think I would remember if I saw somebody getting raped and you would too if you were honest.

Meaning it didn't happen. Her own close friend wouldn't back her, pretty damning.

You are not being honest at all. AKA lying, which is what you seem to be trying to call out. She didn’t claim there were witnesses to the act besides the 2 in the room. Just to there being a party. You know that but still typed what you typed. Tells me you have no interest in credibility. True or not?

Her close friend, Leyland Keyser said she doesn't remember the party or meeting Kavanaugh, but believes Ford's account. This is vastly different than BK's characterization and a thousand miles away from damning. In any case, not sure what people expect regarding what seems to have been an otherwise unremarkable party to others that they forgot, but to the victim of a sexual assault, one that left a memory seared into her mind?

Let me ask, have you ever had any interpersonal interactions/experience with others where you could not prove what they said or did to you since no one was there to see it? Would that mean everyone else should simply assume it didn't happen?

    Obviously you may be correct.

Clearly no business person would hire him, but the US Senate... sure.

    Funny find.

And confirms the anal sex definition in use at the time. Mr Bufu is pretty direct there.

Credibility, yes I believe by the facts shown that Brett was more credible. Kept spinning

Why should he. He has nothing to prove. She's the one who fabricated all this

Let's think about this Professor, their at a party together according to Ford, claimed her close friend Keyser was there and you don't think something as traumatic as this her friend wouldn't remember? She didn't share this with her? Nobody else noticed a young girl leaving upset? How about the person who gave her a ride home? Complete BS and you know it

The thing is, normally we do an investigation before proclaiming who fabricated all this.

That would normally be true, but all the witnesses didn't agree with her

That could be that she fabricated the story. Her story is not corroborated.

But Kavanaugh was the only person caught in outright lies in testimony yesterday. Several of them.
    - Lied many times about the other "witnesses" saying it didn't happen. They said they had no recollection. There is a huge difference, which Kavanaugh as a judge is very well aware of. This was an intentional lie to sway public perception.
    - Also lied specifically about Ford's friend saying she denied the event, when again she said she had no recollection but specifically said she believed Ford's story.
    - Lied about the meaning of boof - it didn't mean fart and fart made no sense in context. It meant have anal sex, which of course he didn't want to admit on national television. He lied.
    - Lied about the meaning of ralph. Everybody knows it means puke.
    - He lied about Renate Alumnius. He and his buddies clearly meant to imply they all had their way with that young lady. Not too unusual for stupid school boy braggadocio, but he still lied.
    - He lied about the volume of his drinking. And he was so caught up in lying and being defensive about it, he wasn't even aware he was verbally attacking a senator who had already told him her father was an alcoholic.

That's all the stuff I recall that it's clear he lied about. Could very well be more, as his flustered, belligerent behavior would indicate. Me thinks he doth protest too much. WAY too much.

Those lies don't mean he necessarily lied about Ford, but it sure as hell puts a huge dent in his credibility.

At the very least, this committee should follow through with interview of Judge and his girl friend who reportedly wants to come forward, as well as investigation into the other allegations.

And you don't need my word on that. The ABA, and the right's recent hero, Alan Dershowitz both agree that he should not be confirmed prior to investigation of these allegations.

Will be interesting to see public reaction if the Pubs instead slam this nomination through and confirm him.

The more I think about it, yesterday was a big masterful con job by BK...he really played up the victim card, while straight up lying about his past.

Was quite striking the contrast between the two, and how emotional gender stereotypes were flipped. She was calm, quiet, steady, and sticking to the facts as she knew them, while he was emotional, reactive, and combative, while intentionally framing a false narrative of himself.

He, unlike any judge nominated before him because of his previous background, knew the game to be played, and boy did he put on a show.

Again, I don’t think excessive partying should disqualify one (so long as he didn’t do what is alleged), but I do think lying under oath should. He didn’t need to, but he did, because he wasn’t willing to take the risk that any admission of guilt or remorse would tank his chances. Power came before all else.

The former religious part of me would like to think there would be some karma for this, but after seeing a completely amoral man like Trump rewarded with the presidency, I have no faith in that concept.

He will most likely get confirmed to the highest court of the land, where they ask those before them to swear to an oath of honesty, something he couldn’t do himself when push came to shove.

Ford ran out of the party, leaving her friend (who was the only other woman there), alone with all the drunk rapists. I don't think so.

Vote scheduled for today at 9:30. Corker said he is voting yes.

Rumors out there that Manchin (D-WV) will also vote yes, giving bipartisan support for a confirmation.
