Disgraceful demeanor by Kavanaugh. He is a sitting federal Judge. If a witness had behaved that way in a courtroom, in his courtroom, the Judge would have admonished him to stop yelling. If a witness started asking questions of the panel of questioners, the Judge would have shut him down. Dr. Ford’s statement was the product of a “vast left wing” conspiracy? Would have had to be for the hearing to be a left wing conspiracy. Revenge by the Clintons? Kavanaugh has complete meltdown indicative of a complete lack of credibility, particularly for someone who should have been comfortable in the forum.
One of the things that really stands out about it is there has been little moderation needed. People have become testy, which is to be expected, but for the most part, it has been an interesting thread with very little insulting.
My previous post was speculation based on Kavanaugh's documented behavior. Despite his denials Kavanaugh had a reputation as heavy drinker, perhaps to the point of blackout, in both high school and college. Anyone know why the Pubs pulled the professional sex crimes prosecutor right after she noted that Judge Kavanaugh’s calendar showed his attendance at a party with PJ and Judge on a Thursday early in July and then started yelling about what a sham the hearing is? They supposedly hired the prosecutor to search for the truth and it would seem that they should have allowed her to question the nominee with the same vigor as Dr. Ford?
I just think the "energize the base" argument works both ways. I mean yeah, I guess temporarily it might be seen as a "win" for the dems and some far righties who demand "victory" would be outraged that they didn't get a political score, perhaps turning on their own to a small extent. But on the other hand, don't you think this would be useful for the Hannity's and Limbaugh's of the world to whip their audiences into a tizzy about the "dirty politics' the dems played? It would give them months and months of ammo, arguing that their guy got "Borked". I just think these factors sort of neutralize each other out. Considering that I truly believe the correct and logical thing to do would be to wait a week or two and investigate the allegations properly, I just see rushing to vote is the clear net loser as far as elections go. Whereas I just don't see any true downside (other than very short term ones) to either delaying or even withdrawing and going with another guy off the Federalist list. Even if on paper Kavenaugh is highly qualified, and I"m sure he is, I just don't see how any rational person could think he comported himself well at all at today's hearing.

I didn't watch the whole thing continuously this afternoon but at one point I seem to recall her saying she had no more questions. It could have been at the end of her 5 minutes too. I left and came back and the Senators were questioning him.
Witnesses in Congress are under oath and subject to the rules of perjury and contempt of Congress. And lawyers and judges are always subject to the canons of ethics. Not a good idea to yell at the people deciding whether you get a job.
Pretty obvious, it was because Kavanaugh was choking. He was being double teamed by both the dems AND this prosecutor. So instead of that scenario, they went strongly to bat for him. After the Graham outburst, Kavenaugh barely had to speak when it was the Republicans turn! After Graham, they all pretty much took the full 5 minutes to make statements leaving Kavenaugh to just sit there. Her questions were kind of terrible anyway though. Know what might have led her to better questioning? If she had more information from an actual investigation!
