I disagree with you first paragraph. Shoot, just looking at the nature and background of the political hacks lining up to advise Ford reeks of a political hit. Unfortunately for ford, she has absolutely nothing to counteract the hyper-partisan nature of her team.

She reported the assault years ago in therapy.

It is extremely unlikely an assault didn't occur, unless she made up the story to cover for some other issue she didn't want to admit in therapy... and then felt locked into the story and ran with it.

because BK will be the deciding vote whether a sitting president can be indicted....BK wasn't even on the original TWO lists of potential SC candidates before Trump really started sweating....

what I'm saying is he doesn't want to testify to the FBI because lying is a crime...I'm paraphrasing....he did apparently sign a written statement under penalty of perjury someone said...even if BK is confirmed I don't believe this is over

And if she had come forward with this year ago, most if not all of what she is going through could have been avoided. There would have been plenty of time for a full investigation.

BK is a horrible candidate for the SC...he is right of right....and wasn't even on the initial list of candidates until DT got in serious trouble...Obama nominated Garland who is a CENTRIST and the REPUBS wouldn't stand for that...I'm not saying the Dems are doing anything untoward, but naturally they oppose this candidate as I believe the majority of Americans do who aren't on the far right...

But why would she have done that?

She didn't even want to come forward now, from what's been reported. And you can't blame her based on what she and her family are going thru, and will continue to go thru.

it is unprecedented for an outside counsel to interrogate a witness in Senate Judiciary meetings...the Senators are making the decision, they should do the questioning.

And as an FYI - This witness is the ex-wife of former Democratic operative Bob Beckel.

We now have the three other witness named by Dr. Ford saying they do not remember ever being at a party like Dr. Ford describes. What would an investigation prove at this point when everyone besides Dr. Ford say they don't remember anything?

If we are only concerned about getting the truth, why does it matter who asks the questions?

It is obvious this whole issue can't go anywhere without some corroboration and there appears to be none, so it's a done deal. Kavanaugh will be confirmed.

But who interrogates matters because a third party can do a nasty character assassination while the Senators involved in directing that character assassination pay no political price. If they want to attack Ford, they should do it themselves.

    Years ago = 6. ...... not 36.

It’s quit probable she experience nothing as claimed and is fabricating this detaiks if her allegation for financial and political purposes.

Given the information surrounding her behavior and activities as a play girl after high school, perhaps she found herself involved in certain physical activities she now regrets. That’s far more likely than her claim about Kavanaugh. Seems she’s a woman with some issues.

Yes. She brought it up 6 years ago.... long, long before this nomination.

The idea that she brought this up in a therapy session so she could pull it out six years later for a political attack is pretty far fetched.

Clearly she does have issues... that's why she was in therapy. Now, she may have made up a sexual assault story to cover for some other issues she didn't want to talk about in front of her husband. I already allowed for that. But again, there's a one in fifty chance on average that is what happened. Or that there was some other motivation causing her to claim a false sexual assault.

Something probably happened to her. The specifics of which may be jumbled in her memory or may include a misidentification... even though that Whelan dude just made his story up, he may have gotten it right - she confused a similar looking attacker with Kavanaugh. Judge's weak claim of no knowledge and refusal to testify makes me think he might know more about what happened than he is willing to testify to. And may have been party to whatever happened as she claims.

It's going to be a closed door hearing now so it is mute.

At this point, all Republican need to do is let Dr. Ford tell her story. They then submit letters from the other 3 people who all says they do not remember every attending a party like Dr. Ford describes. Kavanaugh denies being at the party. Now no one can put Kavanaugh at the party and the standard of the majority of the evidence supports Kavanaugh as it cannot be proven he was there.

There is no way Judge is going to show up to that hearing. He is a conservative writer and has expressed opinions that the left does not like. Booker and Harris will accuse him of being a racists and homophobe. They then will then declare him to be one and say that Kavanaugh most be one as well since he was friends with Judge in high school. They will then say that there is no place on the SCOTUS for a racist, homophobe and Kavanaugh must be impeached if he is confirmed to the court.

    Good points.

Politics are driving this whole process rather than any concern for justice.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, that's an interesting juxtaposition considering the position in question.

The fact that the only other person that Dr. Ford said was in the room during the attack was Judge made me raise my eyebrows. Judge is well known for being a recovering alcoholic that he documented in his book and has written articles that the left finds objectionable. Judge is probably the best person that Democrats could hope for to be involved in this case. A documented history of being black out drunk in high school and has opinions that would make him be a clear bad guy in the eyes of the left, ie a poster boy of evil Republicans. It is very easy to say that Judge was there but clearly he doesn't remember because he was black out drunk just like he wrote about.

This is why the therapist's notes saying there were four boys in the room versus two is significant. If it was four boys, then there are two other people in the room that could confirm or deny the attack. Seeing as Smyth denied ever being at the party, it would more than likely be denying it.

That is significant because either Ford is changing her story or the therapist is incompetent and not a reliable source.
