I haven't called Kavanaugh any of those things. Direct your complaints to somebody who did. However, Kavanaugh's hard-partying ways are relevant to the accusation. Blasey's sex life afterwards is not. Kavanaugh isn't alleging consensual sex. It's simply a way to attack her and smear her. It's a disgusting tactic, and I hope you're not defending it.

Actually his party days are not relevant either. But people seem to think so just because he is accused of being drunk that night.
If your trying to set up that because he partied and she said he was drunk that her story must be true is BS. Then you can say that she partied as well and that her saying she only had one beer is BS to make herself look like a wallflower.

Yes, they are. He's accused of being sloppy drunk at a party. If Kavanaugh had a tendency to get sloppy drunk at high school parties, then he obviously can't deny that he would do that (get sloppy drunk at a party). It's one small piece of the puzzle and is relevant. Blasey isn't the one denying being at the party. Now, it is clear that you're defending the slut shaming. That is yet another disgusting take from you in this topic.

Absolutely correct! A Conservative can be called those names or implied to be those things as long the one calling and/or implying is a Liberal. They are allowed to say/imply even worse than that if they are a media favorite.

How else has Al Sharpton been able to say the things he has said over the years and let the media continue to parade him out in front of us as if he actually had any credibility.

Just lose his promotion? Is that all that you would consider it if this happened to you? A man with outstanding qualifications & stellar reviews from all across the spectrum who is accused of something 40 years ago that cannot be proven & you wouldn't hire him? Okay.

I went to a few parties in high school that there is no way I could tell you where they occurred, so it wouldn't be that surprising to me personally, that she can't remember.

As I've said before there's always three stories. Hers, his and the truth... and we likely will never know the objective truth.

But having known several rape victims in my life, and based on how this came out in therapy, I think something bad probably did happen to her, and she believes Kavanaugh was the guy. She may have blown it out of proportion in her mind, or may have identified the wrong guy. Who knows. But I would be very hesitant to view this as something to completely disbelieve.

If Kavanaugh was as drunk as she claimed (and apparently he and Judge used to get very drunk on a regular basis per their own claims), he may not remember much of the night at all. In which case his definitive denial wouldn't be an accurate story. But he may well not remember.

That's all speculation based on what we know so far. But like I said, I really doubt we're ever going to know the objective truth here.

One thing we definitely agree on is Feinstein playing politics with this and making it worse.

Correct. I would not hire a man who was credibly accused of sexual assault for a position that comes with significant power.

Ok this is a job interview, so those doing the interview can just ignore this last minute pitch to delay. They don't have to listen to single word she is saying.

That has always been the case, but they have to answer to the voters in about a month.

Well, when you have Trump and Roy Moore on your side, you know that you are on the right side of the sexual assault case. Maybe Bill Cosby can also come out in support of Kavanaugh. :emoji_upside_down:

My grad school girlfriend was raped by a supposed mentor several years before we met. She didn't report because he controlled her professional career in the short term and was intimidating her with career/education suicide if she said anything, and a character assault.

For years, she would never say why, among other things, she wouldn't ever go to bed without some form of light in the room. Not too many 24 year olds are afraid of the dark.

20 years after we broke up we happened to be in the same city and grabbed a cup of coffee. With my coffee came 1) an apology for some of the relationship oddities (some very personal) that I experienced with her, and 2) the rape disclosure that only occurred after a decade + of therapy and a failed marriage.

Anyone (like our Tweeter In Chief) who thinks just because a woman doesn't report that an assault didn't occur doesn't understand either women or sexual assault.

By that logic, thousand of Catholic altar boys were never assaulted throughout their childhood. Yet we all know now that they were.

Let me be clear, I have no idea what actually happened here , but the fact it was unreported at the time is irrelevant to me.

And the Tweeter In Chief is playing with fire. Since Maryland has no statute of limitations for felony sexual assault, he'd better hope she doesn't jam his stupid last tweet up his a** by filing criminal charges this afternoon, which would result in months of delay for Kavanaugh and likely a restart with someone else after midterms. And unlike the FBI he has ZERO control over a local matter in Maryland. But he just can't help himself from himself.

The hard part would be to determine what is credibly accused. Depends on what side of the issue you are on when it comes up. As of right now Pro Ford by my accounts and many others has not presented any credible prof where on the Dem side they thank there has been. So we are back to square one

If a woman drinks and likes to party, is that an excuse to rape or assault her? No. And bringing up the fact that Dr. Ford liked to party years after the alleged assault is slut-shaming. Pure and simple. It's disgusting, and a big reason why women don't like to bring forth assault accusations.

And it's not unusual at all for assault charges to take decades before they are made. Choir boys make allegations against Priests decades after the assault and the reaction is generally one of outrage, and rightfully so. There are allegations made against Bill Cosby decades after the alleged events and he was arrested and stood trial. The allegations Dr. Ford are making against Kavanaugh deserve to be taken seriously and properly investigated. The job Kavanaugh is interviewing for happens to be an extremely elite position, that is a lifetime appointment, and he can wait a few weeks to flesh out the allegations before starting.

Last, I imagine Feinstein first held on to the letter because she too had to do some investigating to ensure Dr. Ford was credible. Imagine turning in the letter without doing any vetting only to find Dr. Ford had zero credibility? Feinstein also likely held off on Dr. Ford's request. Read the initial letter and take into account Dr. Ford seemed to desire anonymity, and Ford likely asked Feinstein to do everything to keep Ford's name out of the public. But eventually, when it looked like there was no other recourse, the calculus changed, and Ford/Feinstein had no other options but to come out in public. Just speculation, but Ford likely knew coming forward would mean a huge disruption in her life including moving and death threats. Is it any wonder Ford wished to avoid this if at all possible?

One thing we can all agree on, without a doubt... Neither Kavanaugh nor Ford deserve threats of any sort...

People who are doing that are doing something evil...

Scrutiny on the way this is handled is fair game in my book.... Presumption of guilt is not, however... But that doesn't only apply to Kavanaugh... Presumption of guilt that Ford is lying or making a political hit would also be unfair...

This is exactly what I want her to do because for me it would add legitimacy to her claim and many would take her more seriously. Because as of now it is just an unsubstantiated accusation. Attach a filed police report instead of a confidential letter to a senator and the wind may turn in her favor.

They are already accommodating her more than Feinstein and Ford, herself, have accommodated the committee... Cooperation goes both ways...
