As I already stated, maybe she naively tried to remain anonymous because she didn't want to be savaged in the social media. As one small example go back and read your own posts in this thread.
Edit: It's not just the social media; it's also the right-wing media and talking heads line Fox New's Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, Breitbart, the Washington Examiner and the Daily Caller just to name a few. Getting back to the social media they are probably already tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of posts on Facebook and tweets and retweets on Twitter savaging her.

At this point it is clear that both sides have dug into their positions: R's saying the hearing is going on Monday so have your testimony submitted by Friday at 10 am & D's saying there needs to be an investigation. No word yet if Dr. Ford has committed to showing up on Monday. Neither side wants to blink in fear of looking weak. In my opinion the Republicans have the strong hand here as Dr. Ford stated she wanted a chance to state what happened to her and Republicans have offered her that opportunity. Once that happened, Dr. Ford and the Democrats start making the additional demand of an investigation. I don't think Grassley budge on the no investigation position.

I'm guessing that Dr. Ford's lawyer will miss the 10 am deadline and then submit the written testimony at some point before Monday morning. Republicans will probably have to delay the hearing until Tuesday. If I had to bet one way or the other, I think it will be an opening hearing.

Yeh …. and if she's wrongly accused Kavanaugh …. it's a shame what some are doing to him and his family. Again, should have been addressed 30+ years ago. Too bad she didn't go to Maryland law enforcement a month a go. Sucks that Feinstein didn't get this matter properly addressed when she became aware of it.

She already admitted to drinking she could very well been so drunk she had no clue what was going on. she first said their was four of them trying to have a gang bang then it was two sounds like she was so drunk she has no clue especially since two of the named ones said it did not happen

I guess the 5th amendment would get in the way.

From what I read, she said there were four guys at the party. Two in the room when she was assaulted.

I keep seeing this apparently mistaken assertion that she changed her story from four to two.

Maybe we should let the FBI investigate her? Check her credibility!

She's a respected academic who by all accounts, enjoyed an anonymous, well adjusted, upper-middle class lifestyle in a highly desirable area of the country. Is it really crazy to not want to give that up in favor of having to move, having your name drudged through the mud, and receiving death threats? What sane person would make this trade, unless it was for something really important. Like your alleged attacker being confirmed for a seat on the Supreme Court.

She is a collage graduate with a Dr degree. If she is that dumb that she thanks she can make this kind of charges against anybody and remain anonymous does not speak well of her. She knew very well what she was doing and all we have to do now is wait for her book to come out

    This is an amazing article...
this first part really hit home and should for each person reading this thread...

It’s always a good idea, in politics, to evaluate accusations against your friends as if they were made against your enemies, and to evaluate accusations against your enemies as if they were made against your friends. That doesn’t mean you never give your friends some benefit of the doubt, but it does mean you should have some general principles and guideposts for making sense of charges and counter-charges that don’t change based on the R or D after the names. Or better still, ask, “How would I evaluate an explosive allegation if I had no dog in the fight?” Try doing that with the allegation by Palo Alto University psychology professor Christine Blasey Ford that Judge Brett Kavanaugh attempted to rape her at a high-school party in or about 1982, when Kavanaugh was 17 and Ford was 15.

There are two unfair and irrational ways to look at this allegation. One, of course, is simply to decide that because you already opposed or supported Kavanaugh, that should determine whether you think the charge is true (or useful). That’s the partisan route, and it treats individuals caught up in political fights as fungible and disposable parts.

This thread has been interesting to see the different partisans saying all sorts of things to justify either GETTING or DEFENDING their guy.
Saying that living through attempted rape is a life lesson, or asserting you could recall everyone you ever met at a party are two examples that discredit those particular posters for all time, not just this thread. (In my book anyway.)

So for the more fair minded posters (and there are many on this thread), I think we all should apply the standard in the first sentence.

So as an example- think of the theoretical that the Winston facts and circumstances were thrown at a Gator QB leading our team to a possible NC.
I know I would be resentful at first, and defend our guy. I'm a Gator, and I give Gators the benefit of the doubt.

But I think that when I found out that
    1) the girl reported a rape that night and put herself through a rape kit.
    2) The PD went out of their way to not investigate.

That I would change my opinion and not defend our guy. I would at the least have some serious misgivings about rooting for him and certainly would not excuse him.

so liberals on this thread- imagine a liberal male nominee who was about to cement a liberal majority for a lot of years on the SCOTUS.
Now imagine an accusation such as this- no evidence, no contemporaneous reporting, and a nominee who has no history of said behavior.
Oh- and the accusation came from a Trump supporting Republican who gave $ to a Republican POTUS candidate.

Would any liberal be attacking the nominee like they are attacking now? Not even close. They would be howling that this was unfair. Which it is.
And I'm sure more than a few conservatives would be chomping at the bit- hoping that this would derail the nominee.

So yeah- begin using the above standards as your guide. You will be a better poster, and maybe even a better and more thoughtful person.

there are a lot holes in that anonymous part

Among those are therapist notes from 2012 that Ford gave to the Washington Post to corroborate her claim. Those notes, though, reportedly say four boys – not two, as Ford claims -- were in the room during the alleged incident. Ford told the newspaper this was an error by the therapist.
However would not the head shrink have a recording to back up his notes

But that claim of reluctance has raised questions about why Ford hired a well-known sexual harassment attorney and took a polygraph test ahead of time if she wasn’t prepared to make the public allegation.

“If Ms. Ford really did not want to come forward, never intended to come forward, never planned to come forward, why did she pay for a polygraph in August and why did she hire a lawyer in August if she never intended to do what she is doing?” South Carolina Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham said on Fox News this week.

Meanwhile, those named by Ford as being present at the party in question in the 1980s have denied the allegations. That includes Kavanaugh, who has emphatically denied the claim, and Mark Judge, a friend of Kavanaugh’s named by Ford who disputes the claims and says he wasn’t at the party in the question.

Another former classmate of Kavanaugh denied having any knowledge of the party or allegations.

Fueling more curiosity was a supposed former classmate of Ford who posted a statement on Facebook this week saying the “incident did happen” and it was “spoken about for days” afterwards “in school.”

    [IMG] Video
Rhetoric flies in DC as Kavanaugh accuser faces deadline
But the post came under scrutiny because of Ford’s previous statements that the alleged incident occurred during the summer – and not during the school year – and that she didn’t discuss it with anyone until counseling with a therapist in 2012.

The classmate who posted the statement, Cristina King Miranda, eventually deleted the post on Wednesday, and clarified that, “I do not have firsthand knowledge of the incident that Dr. Christine Blasey Ford mentions, and I stand by my support for Christine.”

Inconsistencies emerge in Kavanaugh accusations, with hearing in doubt

    Agree.
That's an expectation that doesn't reflect the reality of how rape victims were treated.

Not sure what they could have done with it. Statute of limitations?

    Agree.

Yeah, and if you give all that up to come forward and accuse a Supreme Court nominee of sexual impropriety, why, you might wind up having to settle for being a highly respected academic who enjoys a well-adjusted, upper-middle class lifestyle in a highly desirable area of the country!

I don't believe there is a statue of limitations in Maryland on sexual assault. The only question is did this alleged assault happen in Maryland? VA & DC are less than two miles away from the country club that has been mentioned in this story.

Again, up to 80% of all assaults go unreported. And again, we see the reactions on this thread why this is so. Had she come forward 35+ years ago, Dr. Ford would have been slut-shamed, "I'm sure she was asking for it," victim blamed, "She never should have put herself in this position," and heard misogynist statements such as, "These are such good boys with bright futures. Do you really want to ruin their lives?" Or, "A girl should be so lucky to have such a boy interested in her. His family has money and he has a such a bright future."

We see much of these same type of comments here on this thread, in social media, and from Conservative news outlets. So I ask again, how much money would it take for you to give up your comfortable life and trade it for being forced to move and death threats? And even if her life again resumes some normalcy sometime in the future, she'll always be known as the woman who accused Kavanaugh, which is something she may never live down.

Wait, the bedroom door was locked so how was she able to run into the hallway bathroom?
Also She said the party consisted of 5 people, herself and 4 others. She told her therapist there were 4 boys at the party, 2 in the room with her.

So a 15 yr old girl went drinking with 4 boys?

I'm guessing here but if she does testify, miraculously there is going to be far more detail in her testimony then what is in her letter.

Trump wrong on FBI limits in Kavanaugh hearings
