Not deflecting ….. just reminding liberal partisans (both proclaimed and closet) that they once had no problem with actual sexual improprieties (even with subordinates in the White House) …. yet now want to crucify a guy for something that may (never) have happened 36 years ago.

You continue to opine on current matters (actually a matter that allegedly took place long before Clinton's indiscretions) and ignore what was done by "liberal partisans then …. and still today.

Just pointing out some of the moral inconsistency and hypocrisy of some folks.

Tactical mistake in my opinion to put conditions on testifying. I feel like she made a decision to come forward writing the letter. Then another decision to come forward by going public. Now saying 'dont rush me' is a bit political.

By the way... is she really suggesting attempted rape or is it some lesser sort of assault?

This liberal doesnt care about moral impropriety. Sleep with whoever wants to sleep with you. Assault... a bit different. I havent given Trump crap about his pornstar fling cuz I dont care.

This is not just a "sexual impropriety". If it occurred as the alleged victim remembers, it is sexual assault and imprisonment.

He allegedly forced himself on her, kept her from calling from help, turned up loud music to muffle any calls for help or sounds of struggle and locked her in the room. That is not a simple case of a teen age boy pushing a little too far and then letting it go. That's criminal behavior with intent. If true.

Diminishing the nature of this assault as an "impropriety" is another way of rationalizing bad behavior. It's a near daily theme for Trump supporters.

Further, the current matter is not that alleged assault (you're deflecting again). The current matter that i was responding too, for the THIRD time, is aggressive interrogation of this woman, and how that might impact voters.

Most Americans will not respond well to a sexual assault victim being attacked on the stand and in right wing media. But those Americans are already against Trump, so he probably doesn't lose any support there.

The people who are already entrenched supporters of Trump just don't care as far as I can tell. They've demonstrated that consistently rationalizing and deflecting all sorts of egregious behavior this man has engaged in, as well as the behavior of several of the people he explicitly chose for key positions in his campaign and cabinet. For those core supporters, it doesn't matter what he or his administration does. They'll support him and his decisions regardless of how bad the behavior is.

Same here. Could care less about him sleeping with porn stars or whomever. That's between him and Melania, and she went into the marriage knowing he cheated on his other wives.

The campaign finance laws he broke are the most relevant issue wrt his porn star pay offs.

While I understand this reaction to people who engage in victim shaming and name calling, it's too broad a brush to label the entire Pub base that way.

You're the one that felt the need to insult another poster over an opinion you didn't like. Putting yourself in a position where you get dogpiled while being drunk off your ass at 15 is called a life lesson, not a reason to bring down an obviously qualified SCOTUS nominee.

He is calling out words from you that engage in victim shaming, name calling and trivializing what is allegedly a serious assault.

Personalizing your response to the poster and name calling is against board rules.

Address content and not the poster.

That goes for everyone here and reminders should not be needed. I must be feeling generous this fine morning. ;)

I don't think you would feel that way if that woman was your daughter. There is a big difference between drunken sex that you think was a mistake later and being physically restrained while being taken advantage of.

Again, you got called out for trivializing a serious assault. And you do it again.

While it may be a life lesson for her to avoid getting caught somewhere she can't easily defend herself or escape, that in no way justifies her being attacked (if that in fact occurred).

Blaming the victims of sexual assault is a misogynistic attitude that is simply unacceptable. It is not the victim's fault.

No doubt. I think Doug Jones is proof that there are still many people of character in the Republican base. Nonetheless, it's a fact of life that we are often judged by the company we keep.

If thats what really happened here its called a sexual assault.

I'll let you tell the next teen girl who'd gotten drunk at a party and then assaulted by several guys (or dog piled, as you say) that what she had just experienced was a "life lesson" and not a crime., and you can let us know how that works out for you. And I don't see where she said she was drinking, have you?

Talk about putting partisan politics over priorities, wow, regardless of what the Kavanaugh facts really are.

Actually, to correct your recollection … you posted @ 678:

"Victims of sexual assault are not likely supporters of the crotch grabber in chief.

    They're not risking much, IMO."

To which I responded with quotes @ 753:

    "Willie J Clinton?

Hey …. I've an idea …… the American left should get Kieth Ellison to represent Ford in this matter. Let him present her case before the Senate Judiciary Committee."

To which you responded @ 759

"I was responding to a post on current political impacts of this woman being aggressively interviewed about her alleged sexual assault.

Trump bragged about sexual assault and bragged about ogling nude teen girls. Both of those things confirmed by numerous victims of his behavior. It is a fact that his base just doesn't care about that... or any of his other voluminous character flaws.

Deflecting as you do here just confirms it. Even though you're not a Trump supporter, right? Sure. "

I was seeking clarification of your reference to "crotch grabber in chief" …. and offered an opinion as to who should assist Ford in her "presentation" before the Senate Judiciary Committee. I was quite on topic but you chose to venture off into a discussion of Trump, his victims, and supporters.

If anyone deflecting from the issue at hand ….. it's definitely not me as I'm on topic.

But …. back to the subject matter …… is Ford going to testify under oath as to the allegation she's raised? Wonder if she'll travel to DC via commercial or on a private jet?

Read the article posted earlier written by the federal prosecutors. They explain it quite clearly. No reason for me to explain it again.

I don't think it is. The Republicans want it to be her and Kavanaugh. It allows them to claim it's he said/she said and sweep it under the rug. She wants more evidence on the record and more witnesses. Sure seems odd to me that a person who is lying would demand the FBI investigate her allegation. That would be the opposite of what a liar wants.

So you're saying she deserved it? So you believe that, as a general rule, teenage girls at parties should be sexually assaulted as a life lesson?
