then go to the proper authorities, This is a state crime not a federal crime. File a report locally and ask the local police to ask the FBI to get involved. That would be the proper chain of command.

But you don't want her to follow the law.

She wants the big guns. Now, you're criticizing her for wanting better law enforcement investigating it?

Has any Dem Senator been investigated to the level that Bork, Thomas and Kavanaugh have? I think I know the answer.

Mendendez from Jersey sure wasn't for his escapades in the DR. The Torch from Jersey wasn't either, he actually got a promotion to Senate instead. Corzine? ROTFL.

96, you’re allowed to make any determination that you want, but I agree with md that your comment about the trauma really isn’t a good look.

So she wants special treatment, instead of following the law. And you are ok with that as a lawyer?

Dude, that is REALLY harsh. We have no way of knowing what hell or trauma that young lady has been dealing with all these years, and it allegedly happened when she was 15, FIFTEEN! Could any of us second guess or armchair quarterback what we would have done in that situation? If it were our sister? daughter?

The tough thing about this as my fragile mind can figure, is that it is extremely heartless and uncaring to the young lady if, IF, it is true. Add to that, it is grossly unfair to Kavanaugh if, IF, it is not true. Somebody's a bad guy here, either her or him. Tough indeed.

Yes, Democratic Senators have been investigated for sexual crimes and even for sexual immorality.

That’s the benefit of the Democrats treating it like it’s a political dirty trick from its inception: it makes reacting to it like it’s a political dirty trick an acceptable reaction to most folks who weren’t already all-in on opposing Kavanaugh.

Sure. Give her the special treatment. Investigate it. "Instead of following the law?" C'mon.

Yeah, I don't think you realize how many women there are who have been sexually harassed and assaulted. If you play this wrong, they're going to make you pay. Treating her allegation like it's just partisan politics will blow up in your face.

Jeezus. Your victim of ‘assault’ from 30 years ago that only recently told her story to therapist and husband (what, 20 years after the fact) with no supporting evidence, no witnesses, no physical evidence.

You have to be a defense lawyer, there’s nothing there from a legal basis for her to bring this up except for ‘encouragement’.

If I was a defense lawyer, wouldn't I be favoring the equivalent of the defendant here?

Actually it looks like the accuser doesn’t want a law enforcement investigation into this. There is nothing stopping her and her lawyer from bring a criminal compliant against Kavanaugh in Maryland as there is no statue of limitations for what she is accusing him of. That is not what she is asking for.

What she is asking for is the FBI to conduct an investigation into a possible crime that they have absolutely no jurisdiction over. This wasn’t a federal crime and there is no point bringing the FBI into this case. You don’t get to pick the law enforcement agency that investigates your case and you can’t force a federal agency that doesn’t have jurisdiction to investigate.

Also, there is no way the FBI is going to allow itself to get dragged into this political war. They are still dealing with the fall out of having to play hot potato with the Clinton Server case. There is no way they are going to get involved in another no win political case.

Isn't that what the hearing is for, to question the accused and accuser? That's basically all the FBI is going to do 35 years later if they picked it up at all since it's not a federal crime. And I don't really have a lot of sympathy for her complaining about politics when she is committing a political act by trashing the confirmation hearings. She chose the moment to come forward.

I'll tell you what. You go public with the accusation and then tell us how easy it is.
