If she had addressed this two years ago, there would be ambiguity. Frankly, based upon law enforcement at the time, if she had addressed it that night, there would be ambiguity. You just wouldn't need to deal with it. But Kavanaugh would.

It's just another blow to the blue wave. The Dems play dirty, which is why Trump is so loved. He fights back and we have not had that for so long.

You might want to check his approval ratings. He is "so loved" by about 40% of the country. That is lower than any other president at this point in his presidency save only Truman. Love like that will get you a blue wave.
    How Popular Is Donald Trump?

Would there be more ambiguity, or less ambiguity?

There is less motive for coming out with the story two years ago than now, because he's not on the verge of being on the Supreme Court... There's no case of it being a "political hit job" or a "smear campaign," which maybe it is, maybe it isn't... but the timing doesn't rule that out...

It would have, or at least to a far greater extent had she done this two years ago...

While I agree with all of this in terms of people lending credibility to her story, it doesn't account for the trauma and feelings of shame that victims typically experience from the event, as well as the very legitimate fear that they will be victimized again by the system if they report the incident.

Also, that seems to be a brain hat, which does not look the p-hat from a google image search.

Interesting dilemma for lawmakers. There will be no justice. There just isn’t a path to proof either way.

Character assignation by conservatives are already on display. #typical I do respect the pub leaders giving it another look before the vote. Can’t be outraged as a lib if they hear her out regardless of outcome. Well. We can. But not sure it’s fair unless they attack her baselessly. Good luck on the high wire folks.

And …. what if she was not?

    What then?????

How does this matter get put back "in the can"?

The manner in which this issue is being handled is wrong. The allegation of the sexual assault should have been reported to LEOs in the appropriate jurisdiction .... and it should have been reported over 30 years ago. Any and every intelligent person knows that how these matters should be handled.

But … no …. go public and smear a person who may be completely innocent …. especially if there's a political motivation to do so.

    Both parties are being smeared.

One of them doesn't deserve it, but it is unlikely we will ever objectively know which one.

I think that if a Democratic Nominee for the Supreme Court was accused by another party of committing sexual assault by someone who could not provide a date or a location of the event and claimed that the accused were so intoxicated it is likely they have no memory of the event, then there would be howls of outrage from the Left and the accuser could only hope that being called "A little bit nutty and a little bit slutty" was the worse thing said about them.

I think this woman deserves to be heard but it is also fair to point out that her accusation, as it stands, makes it impossible for Kavanaugh to refute. No date or location have been provided, which robs Kavanaugh the opportunity to prove he was not there at that time and date. Her accusation does say that she though Kavanaugh was so intoxicated that he would not remember the incident. This accusation will cast doubt on any denial Kavanaugh might offer because the state of his memory has been called into question by the accuser.

So at the end of the day, we have an accusation against a man where no time or date for the crime is provided and the accuser is saying that it is likely that the offender doesn't remember it. I see no way this is going to adjudicated in a fair manner.

I think it is also worth pointing out that the only other person that the accuser has said was in the room, has denied that he witnessed any event like that. So far, it appears that his denial has been discounted by one side. That person is now being dragged through the mud by the folks on the left, see @rivergator linked to a Media Matter's article doing just that.

She will be there. I'm sure that her attorney and some Democratic staffers would prefer it to be later than Monday to better prepare her for the hearing. That is why they said it could not happen this week. Going in front a Senate committee is not something even accomplished professionals are prepared to do without extensive preparation.

I've also seen the idea floated that the Republicans should have former Senator Kelly Ayotte acted as their questioner, rather than have a bunch of older mean doing it.
