From what we’ve seen in the last 12 to 18 months, men who have been accused of acts like this have done it a lot and there have been multiple victims. Sometimes it was an open secret like Weinstein and Mooves. It seems unlikely that Kavanaugh would have made it this far, held a YZ Top Secret Clearance, and have a history of multiple sexual assaults. Unless the women plans to step forward, I think this accusation stays that just an accusation.
Well, she came forward: California professor, writer of confidential Brett Kavanaugh letter, speaks out about her allegation of sexual assault And she's a successful professional.
Umm, that could be a problem. What, no porn stars were available? How does that old joke go, you don't pay prostitutes for sex, you pay them to keep their mouth shut.
I think this story just got a little more serious. Supporting evidence needs to be provided that backs up her claim. But as I said earlier, I’m not surprised she came forward. And to get ahead of an argument, I wouldn’t put too much stock in the polygraph part of the story. I would want it done by someone that is not picked by the side making the accusations.
And to discuss the politics of situation, a couple things to consider: 1. If Kavanaugh has to withdraw, how will it impact Republican turn out in the mid-terms? The Republicans will likely hold the Senate but it will be close. Does this effect the races in Indiana, Missouri, N. Dakota, Montana, and Florida? 2. What happens if the Democrats take the Senate? Will they be willing to hold the seat open for two years? Or will they agree on an older conservative nominee? Trump cannot nominate a Marlack Garland as it will kill any chance he has of being re-elected. The only reason a large section of the Republican base voted for him was his promise to appointe conservative judges. Break that promise and there is no possible hope of forgiveness. 2. If Kavanaugh isn’t confirmed and the Republicans hold the Senate, who is next up? I’ve seen some pundits on the right state that Amy Comey Barrett is the next clear pick due to the desire to avoid any MeToo issues. Does the Left really want to exchange a Roberts (status quo type) for another Alito or Scalia? There is a chance the court could go further right with Comey Barrett than with Kavanaugh.
No he isn’t. He is a Roberts. He is not someone who is going to go against the grain like Alito has. He is a 5th vote for ObamaCare as a tax. He is the least bad option for Democrats dealing with a Trump appointment.
He's an Alito. How Conservative Is Brett Kavanaugh? John Roberts Will Probably Be The Supreme Court’s Next Swing Justice Thomas Hardiman was the runner-up, and I'd be quite happy with him.
She came forward with her story today, I believe. I haven't read this entire thread yet, but hopefully someone has posted the link.
Given That the judiciary committee is 11-10, this basically put the kibosh on things until she speaks.
Republicans are now in a no win situation. Pull the nomination and there might not be time enough to get someone else though before the election, where they could lose the senate. Or force this through and p*** off women even more, in what is already a bad electoral landscape. Especially if this woman is dragged in front of a hearing and attacked by a bunch of old white men for political reasons.
I think they can ram another nominee through before the mid-terms. However, you need someone who is already vetted. Hardiman is the perfect choice. He was the runner-up to Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, he's more moderate than both, and they've already vetted him. Plus, he has a blue-collar background and is an immensely likable guy. The Dems will still stamp their feet, but I think they could get Hardiman through a lot more easily than trying to push Kav. They might still get Kav through, but it will do even more damage at the mid-terms imo.
Mark Judge says it didn't happen. Somewhere Arlen Specter and Saul Alinsky are smiling. Feel like the ends justify the means in Washington again.
Yeah, we should totally believe one of the two men accused of sexual misconduct because he says it didn't happen.
Was a liberal nominee's activity in high school ever investigated? I can't recall one. The double standard continues ... At the rate we're going, potty training will be investigated 30 years from now.
This is more like Billy Martin than Alinsky. Yet another pine tar investigation by the Dems. Corruption is truly taking over this country. All for the sake of Big Abortion.
