Grilling burgers tonight at my wife's request. Bought some ground beef today and saw Stella 12-packs on sale. Just in time for today's game.

Picked this up today and it's in the slow cooker now. Pulled pork tomorrow with my new sauce! [IMG]

You guys ever dump in apple juice or Coca-cola when you slow cook pork?

I'm just using water and spices today.

I always smoke it for pulled pork.

When making carnitas I braise in the oven (slow cooker can work) and add a sliced up orange to the braising liquid.

When I use a slow cooker I use mojo, Publix's works pretty well at our house

I poured some Black Cherry soda in the slow cooker so that might add an interesting touch to the flavour....;)

The acid from the soda will do more with tenderizing the meat, but black cherry would be a nice flavor to add. And a bit of sugar doesn't hurt. When smoking a pork shoulder the rub I use (I make my own and use a slightly different mix for pre-rubbing as compared to finishing) has a lot of dark brown sugar. But slow cooking will not give you that wonderful "bark" you get when smoking.

Making a chopped salad for dinner and a mess of oven baked chicken wings: half with a Buffalo sauce and a half with a honey/ginger Asian sauce. I even bought a bottle of Frank's hot sauce to make the Buffalo version authentic.

And I made some of my sun-dried tomato/pistachio tapenade.

My 22 year old son liked the wings. He really liked the honey/ginger wings and I had to stop him before he ate them all. I told him that he has to leave two each for me, his mother, and his grandmother. And six are left.

Of course he wouldn't even think about eating any of the chopped salad.

After a couple of nights out--one at the ball park and one at a top shelf Italian restaurant we are going to be doing round two with Jan's spiral ham, green beans, new potatoes, and whole cob white corn--hopefully desert will be a great victory for our Gators--

    Bill;

No "ice cold longnecks"?????? I am crushed............. You have been an inspiration for me with beers being a consistent item on your dinner menu each evening.

    Stu1--

Total failure on my part not to include ice cold longnecks--I might've been distracted by the game or I might just be getting forgetful--LOL--
    I'll try harder--

Making penne with caramelized cabbage and breadcrumbs with sage and anchovies. Chilling an albarino to drink with it.

If this is of interest to anyone, I've let @wingtee know try it if you want--the "limited edition" Budweiser Red Lager Reserve dedicated to the "Folds of the Flag" with the Military is SMOOTH--

Is it smooth like Angustiner Keller in Munich or smooth like Coors?

One is bliss in a glass and the other is like water.
