The reality of the situation is that being the head football coach at the University of Florida is not as appealing as we the fans (and more specifically the posters on this forum) think it is... still hoping for the best though!!!!
I agree with everything you are saying, BUT we (as UF fans) have been burned by the joke hiring of Zook (I still can’t figure it out hiring an NFL special teams assistant) and Muschamp (at least he was a coach in waiting) it is very hard to have FAITH and TRUST.
Grier wasn’t bad coaching, he was just the result of a stupid coach. He was good despite the coaching, major fail on Mac’s part. NFL also doesn’t compare. Not the same skill set. Lots and lots of players suck in college, and make it to the NFL because of measurables, and the opposite is also true of good college qbs. Tebow. Ryan leaf Any number of other high draft pick busts Tom Brady Kurt Warner Tony Romo The list goes on. The point is that Franks can’t grasp the game at the division one college level. I’m not looking for Heisman numbers, but the ability to go through progressions, make good decisions, don’t throw into triple coverage. These are things that good qbs learn though playing, or naturally have the ability to do. Any coach at any level from pee wee to professional teaches qbs to throw the ball away instead of taking a sack when possible. He doesn’t do that. I sincerely hope that I am wrong, and that the new coaching staff can help him use his physical talents to be a good player, but I haven’t seen any signs that make me think it’s realistic.
Except Driskel didn't suck in college once he got away from us. And Romo and Warner were both outstanding college QBs once they started. Hell, Brady was a good college QB once he started.
My question is reports were at 6 per offered and he got 4.6 If he had leverage it didn't pay Less money and more taxes Doesn't add up That is Mac money
If I were an "insider" on GC I don't think I would post anything on these free boards. That is the equivalent of enjoying having your arm stuck in a vending machine. Who needs that?
Brady was terrific in college. Michigan would play the other guy, then put Brady in to bail them out. The skill set for passing is the same in the NFL and college.
I hope we get to see the contracts. I heard (here I think) that Kelly wanted it impossible for UF to fire him for cause and escape buyout. So, he wanted the option to wreck a program, put it on probation, get caught in a dirty scandal etc, and get millions still. If that's the case, then UCLA just made a huge mistake and UF dodged a bullet.
When Driskell tears it up in the NFL as a starter, I’ll eat my words. Until then, I’ll just continue to hope I’m wrong about Franks. But, would you please tell me more about how passing in college and the NFL is the same skill set? That means every good college passer should be great in the pros, right?
To many want to kill the messenger. All @tilly @The_Graygator @BenTrillGriffin and others were doing was passing along what they were hearing and what the feelings of those giving the information were. Props to them. But when it gets hot and heavy again I hope they just post on the paid forum so the babies don't have to get all worked up. They were not giving you direct inside information, just thoughts and feelings of those who are in the loop. And they were all blindsided.
I don’t wanna kill the messenger ...kudos for BTG and Tilly for the thread I wanna talk to SS for what Clay Travis would call a “mosquito dick move “ in letting Kelly sign for less then Mac was making
